Hi everyone! I'll be graduating May of 2018 and got a job offer at Mayo Clinic, Rochester! I thought I would start a thread for all who are thinking of applying to Mayo Clinic and will be graduating in the spring or if you already got hired, you are welcome to share any thoughts on how to land a job there! Even though it is far away, I would like to start looking for potential roommates as well! :)

My interview was on a Monday afternoon and I was offered the position on Thursday afternoon. So three days after my interview!

So fast!! Thank you :)

Hey! Congrats on the job! My tentative start date is July 30th. They said that was a "preferred" date for nurse residency.

I started orientation this week!! Congratulations on the position :) :)

Yay! Let us know how it goes!

Hi everyone! Congrats on your interviews and job offers! I will be graduating in May and just started applying to Mayo a few days ago. Did you all apply to more than one position? And may I ask how long it took for them to initially contact you after you submitted your application(s)? I'm so excited about the possibility of working there! I would be moving to Rochester, MN from New York -- so it would be a big change! Anyone else out of the area? -Melissa

Hey there!! I think we are all from out of the area, I did an in-person interview because I only live 3 hours away, but in a different state.

My story from application to job offer may be a little different than others. I saw the original post on this thread and decided to apply early like the OP. I applied in early November for 3 different positions. I received a phone call from a nurse recruiter telling me that it was a little too early to apply since I wasn't graduating until May '18, but to call her back in January to discuss their openings.

I got back in touch with her and she emailed me 3 positions that she thought I was a strong candidate for and told me to tell her ASAP if I applied for one and she would set me up for an interview. I applied that day and was called the next day to set up an interview. I think it was about a week between my first application and HR calling me in November.

That's great! Very happy for you all! I was wondering if I should apply to more than one position, because right now I have only applied to one at Mayo. I'm not sure if applying to others will make me look enthusiastic, or like I don't know what I want! Did anyone else happen to apply to Cleveland as well? I'm considering applying there too since it's so much closer to NY. This is such a stressful time, especially trying to balance it with finishing up school! -Melissa

I don't think there is anything wrong with applying to multiple positions. The HR rep emailed me 3 positions to apply to. I considered applying to Johns Hopkins because I used to live in Baltimore, but I was so excited about the Mayo opportunity so I didn't pursue Hopkins. I think I looked at Cleveland Clinic's website but wasn't really interested in moving to Ohio. All of them are great options though! Or Mass Gen.

And yes! Adding interviews into the mix while still studying and having clinicals is stressful. It is a relief when you know you have a job though! Good luck and keep us updated.

Thanks so much for your replies! I have applied to Mayo, Cleveland, Duke, and Hopkins. I would truly be happy with any of these options, as they all have great Nurse Residency programs that will help me make the transition to professional practice. I definitely have my heart set on leaving New York, but I am also applying locally just in case. I'm hoping that my GPA, volunteer hours, and being employed as a nursing assistant during school will help me stand out! I know there are so many amazing candidates, especially at places like these, but I hope I at least get the chance to interview and throw my name out there. Waiting is the worst part! -Melissa
