Hello! I havent seen a thread yet for students applying to the 2015 extersnhip at Mayo Clinic so I thought I would start one and see if there is anyone out there who is in the same boat as me!
My name is Kayla and I am student from OHSU (Oregon Health and Science University). I submitted my application today and I am excited but so nervous, even more so than when I applied to nursing school! I hope to meet a few other students who are going through the process too!

What does everyone know about previous programs and applicants?
Hello everyone! I have also applied for this summer. On past threads I see people talking about unit placement and that we get a preference (not that that means we will get it), is this something that happens after you have been accepted or did I miss something?
I also wondered about that. It seems like they have made a few changes to the applications process since last year(i.e. not needing a cover letter for your resume or recommendations letters, etc.) so I'm assuming this is also one of their changes. Perhaps they are wanting to only sort out the requests from the students that are selected, so they're waiting to release the availabilities. That's my guess :)
The Mayo website states that decisions could be sent out by mid-late February, however, a few years ago decisions were made in early February. From what others have stated, they will send out an email to everyone regardless of being selected or not. It sounds like if you are selected then your job "HR status" on the Mayo website changes from "Application in Review" to "Interview". ~ Since last year's program only accepted 50 of the 800 applicants, decisions were made in mid-February. In years past they have admitted ~100 applicants i believe. ~ I hope it's earlier than later...good luck!! :)
Hi Everyone, I am not applying this year. but will next year and I am hopeful since I attend the local college (RCTC) that I will get in. Good Luck to everyone. Mayo and Rochester are both great!!
Last year, they sent out decisions on Valentine's Day. And like a month or two after we sent in our acceptance paperwork we received another email that had us rank the units in order of our preference.

When I filled out the form and application materials, I told myself I wasn't gonna get worked up over this whether I got it or not, but I'm starting to get really nervous One of my classmates applied and said she read somewhere that they're planning on notifying the first week of February, but take that lightly because it's secondhand info.
