Published

Hello! Who has applied for the MAYO CLINIC RN RESIDENCY? It was available online from October 13 to 15 of 2015. The new grad program will start on February 2016.

1. What day did you apply?

2. Did you do clinicals, preceptorship or externship at any Mayo facility?

3. Have you worked for Mayo before?

4. Tell us about yourself!

5. Or anything else :)

I just want to meet more who did the same as me and we can update each other here! Thanks! :D

Hi!

I applied the 13th for both the critical care and medical surgical track. I am from Illinois looking to relocate to Arizona (so any advice or input would be greatly appreciated), so unfortunately I did not have any clinicals, preceptorship or externship at any mayo facility. I do however have CNA experience in both nursing home and hospital. Currently working at a hospital where I have learned a lot. I am not interested in living in Illinois any longer than I have to….too cold! Arizona seems like a great place to live! :)

Hello! That is great to hear! That is funny because I was thinking of moving to Illinois! I just visited Chicago in August! I have visited Illinois for almost every year now due to family. It is a beautiful place, but it is too cold! It is very hot in Arizona too! Arizona is a great place though.

I applied for both as well. did Clinicals and my preceptorship at Mayo Phoenix. I had my CNA license but didn't work as one. I worked as a Unit Secretary in a rehab/long term care facility though. I am glad you found this post!

Have you heard anything yet or your job status changed?

When did you graduate and where else have you applied?

Thanks!

That's funny. I have lived here my whole life so decided I need a change…if I can find a job as a new grad. I heard it is difficult to find new grad jobs in Arizona but I am not sure. Thats great you had clinicals/preceptorship at Mayo Phoenix! I'm sure that was a great experience. Right now my preceptorship is at the University of Chicago.

My job status just says "application received". Ive read other threads from the past and people were not mentioning changes in their applications until November….and some were having interviews as late as December. Has yours changed?

I graduate in December and I am unsure of where to apply. It is difficult trying to relocate because I didn't have the benefit of having clinicals in an Arizona hospital so I am kind of clueless in that department. Any recommendations of other places to apply??

Hi! That's exciting! You are graduating in December and you are almost there! I remember that feeling! You can see the light little by little :) What school?

I actually just got a call yesterday! For an interview! My status online still says Application in review. I don't know when it will change to interview. I read past threads as well.

I know that there are definitely more hospitals in Illinois! You have great hospitals downtown and the suburbs. Here, we have Dignity Health and Banner Health as well. Those 2 companies have different hospitals located around Arizona. You can check them out as well!

Let me know if you have any other questions because Arizona has been my home :) Take care!

Congrats on getting an interview! When is your interview if you don't mind me asking and is it for med-surg or critical care? That's exciting! When did you graduate?

I graduated earlier this year. I havent really been applying. I waited on this one for Mayo. The lady who called me said it is for Critical Care at the end of this month. Only like a week left to prepare! My 1st time as an RN so lets see :) we just have to be positive! Specially you! Make it through those last days of exams and preceptorship ;)

Hey! I was wondering if your status changed at all online? Have you heard anything? :)

How did your interview go? I interviewed for the med-surg position a couple weeks ago. No status updates since then. Has yours updated?

Me too! No changes on status. Mine was a couple of weeks ago too! Did you interview with the lady and which supervisor interviewed you? I was interviewed for critical care. Also, did they go over the program and the pay rate with you? I was just wondering if they do that with everyone. How did your interview go?

Yes, I interviewed with the nursing coordinator and then a supervisor from the hematology/oncology floors. They did go over the pay rate and program with me, and from what I have heard from some other people in my class that interviewed the same applied to them. I was initially pretty freaked out about my interview because it was the day after a huge cardiac exam and care plan/clinical so I was practicing as much as I could for questions, and I left out some important details for the scenarios. The more I think about it, I realize that I probably did okay and know what to do in those situations moving forward. Hindsight is always 20/20 though !

How did yours go? Did someone from critical care interview you?

I understand how you feel! I wish I said more things during the scenarios. I didnt wanna say things and sound stupid haha. I would say I did okay too. Not perfect! I dont think anyone is perfect specially when you feel that pressure! I interviewed with a critical care supervisor. Id say it was a good experience haha! Are you from ASU Mayo Cohort? How many people do you know that got interviewed and when is the last day of interview?
