apparently, ive been waiting for other people to start a support group for may nclex takers.....but no....so here i am.....
im taking my nclex on the 7th of may...hopefully, i pass this time. im tired of living a non-RN life......
hi everyone. I just want to share my experience last Saturday.
I took my test on saturday at 8 am for the 3rd time. 1st one 194, 2nd 265, and now between 235 and 250. I cant remember because the last time I checked, it was 235 and couple minutes later it ended. I was not ready for it to end. I cried. I was stopping myself from fully crying because I didnt want the people to see me. When I reached the car, called my boyfriend and cried like a baby.
I had 18 SATA, 3 SATA in a row!!! plus 3 calculations and 1 arrange the procedure in order. I was counting every alternate question because I heard that's a good sign, so i had a total of 22. It was hard, hard because the meds they gave I didnt know at all. I had so many priority qs and infection control and disaster qs, some assignment and delegation. Mostly priority and teaching.
I want to share this because I read that there are a couple of people who will take their exam for the 3rd time. I want to share my experience without any bias. I mean I dont want to tell everyone the books that helped me after I find out if I passed or not because if I pass then I might say kaplan helped me or saunders or nclex 3000, but when I find out I failed, then I might say Kaplan sucks and its nothing like the nclex or saunders was very easy. To make the long story short ... sorry ... I listened to a recording during a live nclex session. it was 35 hours in total. it was arranged according to the topics. I wrote every single thing that i didnt know. I ended up with so many notes, but this is how I retain the info. I would do that 5 hours a day. I would do questions in the morning and content in the afternoon and back to qs at night. Prioritydelagationassignment book (reddish purple) really helped me with this kind of qs. Mosby index cards and saunders was good for content too. most of the qs on nclex were short qs - very close to ncsbn. if its a long qs - more like kaplan.
So ... if anyone is reading this and would like to ask me any qs about the exam ... I will gladly answer. I actually remember some of the exact qs, but obviously I cant disclose since its illegal.
I am hoping that everyone who will take it soon will pass. Just remember, what worked for a friend might not work for another. Nobody studies the same and we are all different from one another. I have learned this the hard way because everytime that a friend tells me " mosby helped me alot " or saunders did or learning extension did and so forth ... I end up buying what they used. I was stupid because I used my money and ended up not liking the book. People become biased after passing because if there is a book they used ... they will say " oh kaplan helped me a great deal or mosby or davis or " you know what I mean??? They say this because that's what helped them ... IT Doesnt mean its the one that will help us pass too!!! This is what I have learned!!!
Just a line from the bible that I keep telling myself ... " if you believe, you will receive ".
I hope we all surpass this obstacle.
On Tuesday or Wednesday morning ... I will let everyone know if made it on my 3rd try.
Sorry if this was TOOOO LONGGGGG!!!

I took my NCLEX-PN on May 3, 2008 @ 3:30pm. I stopped at 175 questions and I walked out there saying "IONNO." I mean, I walked out there knowing I didn't FAIL badly or PASS with flying colors. I just walked out there not knowing. 4-5 SATA, priority, patient teaching, infection control, and questions here and there in between.
2nd time taking the exam. I knew OFF THE BAT that I failed the first time but this one, I have no idea. STRESS LEVEL 100/1.
YAY for California 1 month "stress wait!!"

I wish I had a magic answer for you! I KNOW how hard it is! Try to be as patient and relaxed as you can. Do something to distract you! That's what I did ~ I started painting my house! It's therapeutic for me! You need to do something to keep your mind off of it so that you're not dwelling on the situation. It's so very hard, I know. Best of luck, and mucho prayers are going your way!!:icon_hug:
