I'm finishing up some prerequisites and taking the HESI test on Tuesday for the January deadline. I'm a bit nervous! I wanted to see if there are any other accelerated program hopefuls applying for NAU this spring!?
Also, for the HESI, I heard that there is a&p, chem, bio, math, NO physics, but is there a grammar and a reading section?
Good luck to all in the application process!
I came across the same info for 2008, but I applied last year and had all my prerequisites done and a 3.4 GPA, but I did not do well on the HESI 88. I did not get on the list. More people are applying these days, but from what I read all of you will get in. The HESI and GPA is pretty heavily weighted and with GPA's above 3.5 and scores above 90 on HESI I am certain you will make the list.
To the two of you, Run and Lindy, who received phone calls from NAU undergrad congratulating you on admission to the undergraduate summer school, that is the typical sign the college of nursing has recommended your admission. You essentially have been accepted. Just an FYI
My friend does admissions at another Arizona state school for masters, and that is how they do it as well. The college would not contact you to congratulate you on admission if the college you applied to did not recommend you for admissions.
Congrats.
Oops! I mean my first attempt at the HESI was a 78, because I was doing something stupid with the math and did not even study. I took it at the last minute. When I found out that I was not on the list then I decided to apply to the Undergraduate program and got in, but I was able to take the HESI again and got an 88 the 2nd go round.
It's very difficult for me to be patient in this program and it seems so long, I would rather be in the accelerated with others that already have degrees like myself.
Also, I'm not sure if they plan it this way, but a lot of applicants last year received their letters on Friday and also the early part of the next week. Good luck to you all and just a little info that I read about nursing is that nursing students are needed, the major problem with most schools is that there is not enough staff to support the number of applicants and therefore have limited seating. There is still a push for more nurses, but we are down on educators. I think this is very true as the undergrad program that I am in is having a very tough time recruiting teachers.
I really hate to be a drag, but I don't want anyone to get their hopes up. NAU's acceptance to the university doesn't have anything to do with acceptance to the nursing program. They're two entirely separate processes. I don't mean to say you won't get in; just that my hubby works closely with admissions and so I know this specific university doesn't do it that way. Just wanted to share my "insider" information. Good luck, everyone!
Hey thanks Street. I am sorry for any mis-info, I am just stressed to the core and went out with my friend last night and inquired endlessly about the process at this state school. He said "The undergrad would not welcome you unless they have been advised to do so by the college applied to". But since NAU works differently, then I eat my words and sincerely apologize!
Hey absolutely no need to apologize! In fact, maybe I should mind my own beeswax :) You're right though, that seems like the most logical way to do admissions -- why let someone in to the university before even talking to their college? Don't I wish?
Anyway, I'm super stressed too. I've been patient up until today...well relatively, anyway...but now the waiting is really starting to get to me!
Okay, back to my nervous pacing! :)
Not too much longer now! Ab, don't worry about the info, I'm not a person to count my chickens before they hatch :)
Street, perhaps your insider knows exactly when decisions will be mailed out? Tuesday the 22nd?
I hope we all get in, seeing people not be accepted (including myself, ha!) is so disheartening!
Sorry, Run. My insider could tell you if you were accepted to the university, but, alas, has no connections within the nursing department. I'm just as in the dark about that as anyone else. In fact, I don't even know if we can expect letters to be mailed on the 22nd. I'll see if I can get my advisor to tell me where they are in that process when (if?) I ever get a call-back. I certainly HOPE we find out soon. And, I really hope we're all classmates!
Does any one know the tuition for instate? I was looking at the website and clearly there are multiple different options. Says undergrad is around 3600/sem (continuing undergrad)---I am not sure which option is actually applicable to this accelerated program. I also know the website says they assess another 1800 total for the program. The summer tuition appears to be around 6K? Then you have all the fees, etc.
Any one know what the instate cost is or even have a ballpark figure? Street since you have some liaison do you happen to know by chance? Just curious if others have looked at this and the tally they reached.
