Hoping to get into Bristol Community College; Need advice!

Hi! This is my first time writing on a forum and I am looking for some advice. I am currently taking my prereqs at Bristol Community College and so far I have a 4.0. But that is only because I had passed my first class with an A+. I am a mother of 2 very small boys,(1 yr and 2 1/2yrs.) and I am going to be taking classes part time until I finish the prereqs and take the TEAS. I am very nervous and scared since I am almost 30 and it has been so long since I have been in school. Math and sciences have always been my hardest subjects and I know that these are the ones you need to excel in. This is also the only community college around that offers a Nursing program and basically my only shot unless I have a vehicle which I don't. I guess I am looking for advice on how to get through the prereqs with good grades and any help with the TEAS as well. (I bought the ATI book, but any other hints would help). I really want to be an RN and I hope and pray I make it into the Nursing class. I am reaching out to people who are willing to give some advice and feedback and if there is anyone on here that goes to BCC and is in the ADN program that can help me out with any advice as well on how they got in and what to expect.

Hi! It sounds like you are off to a great start!! Whatever your study tactics were, I would keep them because they seem to work for you. Don't worry about being in your 30's, I am also in my 30's (late) and I know there are people that are even older that are in the program. There was a 67 y/o that just graduated a few months ago so no worries on the age thing.

The ATI book (imo) is the best. It is made by the company who administers the exam. I actually had a few questions directly from the book on my exam. Read it front to back and do the practice tests. Also, buy the online practice tests (ATI website) those were just like the exam.

I don't go to BCC, but if you PM me, I can try and answer any other questions you might have.

Good luck!!!

I am also looking into doing this. I am going to start taking my prereqs soon and have my transfer credits evaluated. How do you like BCC so far? I'm looking into the ehealth program because I have to work full time while going to school.

@ncolon14, I am currently in the process of completing the pre-req and applying for 2015. I just took the TEAS last week and received a high score. I just used the ATI book but I also had just completed Chemistry090 (I did not take chemistry in HS so I needed it) and BIO111 which a a pre-req for A&P. Those science classes helped prepare me for the TEAS.
