Maryville 2014 WEC

U.S.A. Missouri

Published

I have applied to the weekend and evening college at Maryville for Fall 2014. I am hoping to meet other prospective candidates so we can talk, get to know each other and support each other through this journey.

If anyone is also planning to attend I would love to hear from you!

Thanks!!

mcalvin - I've been flusterated with information given to me as well. The advisors don't seem to be very much help. Cheers to the new semester and hopefully we can stand the wait to find out if we are accepted :)

Only about a month to go till we know!!

...AND the wait is already killing me! Hurry up, letters!!

Me too!!!!! I hope they come early this year :) If we all get in we should exchange #'s so we can talk and get to know people before the semester starts!!!

I have also applied for 2014 wec program. My heart was broken last year when I was wait listed, so I have completed my minor in Psychology and of course all pre reqs are already done. Anyone heard through the grape vine what the CGPA's are looking like this year for admission?

Idavis, I haven't heard anything about what GPA they are looking for. I got a letter last night from Mayville, opened it up and all I saw was a big CONGRATULATIONS in the first sentence and my heart just stopped, I was so excited!! Then I kept reading and it was just a letter congratulating me on making the honor roll, it had nothing to do with the nursing program!

I have a 4.0 but I am worried because I only took 19 credit hours there, not the 20 they say you need. I was told by my adviser that it was ok but I've heard from other students that they had to take an extra class to get the 20 credit hours. :/

When did you get your letter last year?? Was it at the end of February, early March???

Do you think the 19 credit hour thing is going to be a problem for me??

What GPA where you wait listed for last year?

GAH I GOT THE SAME LETTER. How evil is it that they send those letters out while we're all axiously waiting for our acceptance letters. EVIL. I wanted to throw up when I was opening the letter because I was so nervous lol.

We'll just have to keep waiting........ impatiently...

My adviser told me that last year the last person to get in had a 3.4. However when I spoke with an actual nursing advisor she told me that it was 3.2. I've learned to take everything with a grain if salt. You hear so many rumors and crazy stories. I'm applying to a few places. Maryville is my first choice but I need to have options if I don't get in this semester. I don't want to wait any longer .

Typically the letters go out the last week of February. They have the lady two years that I know of.

I do not trust the advisors much. Actually, my current advisor isn't so bad, I really like her, but one of my friends has her too and she's said things to me that don't match what she said to my friend. I do trust her quite a bit more that my old advisor. He was no help whatsoever. Anyway, she told me the same thing, my original advisor told me lowest was a 3.49, but my new advisor told me 3.2 (which matches with what you were told). If it's a 3.2 I would think I would be a shoe-in, but I've also heard they take work history and background into consideration, which I have zero background in anything medical - who knows. Good to know they probably won't go out for a few weeks still though! Thanks!

I wonder how they would take work history into consideration? I was never asked any of that info.

There was a guy in my chem class last year who said he got in even though his GPA was lower than others who applied all because he was a man and they wanted more "diversity" in the program. I don't really know what to think.

I really hope we all get in!

I heard that they were asking new students if they had any medical background . They never asked me. I think that I've told them what I do but I don't think that they recorded it or anything.

At this point I figure if I get in then I get in. If I don't I'm exploring my options.

I have friends in the nursing program and it's a lot more involved than we were initially told. I recall being told that classes were two days a week every other week but it's every week and that doesn't include clinicals. You also have to schedule times to get signed off on skills. I don't know if this is for every semester but so far they go three days a week, every week for 16 weeks.I know that every cohort they make changes.

I guess they are still working out the bugs or every cohort has it's own set of needs.

Wow. From what I know, it's 2 days a week every week for classes and 1 day a week (on the weekend except in on semester) for clinicals. I didn't know about skill sign offs. I just assumed that would be done in skills lab when you already have class scheduled. As a single mom, it's going to be pretty hard to afford daycare for all that plus while working full time.

This program is already stressing me out and I don't even know if I got in yet!

Tell me about it! My best friend is in the program now and the stuff she tells me has me so scared!
