  1. ant2cory - yeah fall registration is the 24th I think, which is next monday. I guess I will try calling my advisor to find out exactly what I enroll in to make sure I get into the later nursing skills lab and lecture, because one is at 4:30 I think, which unfortunately will NOT work with my work schedule. The other one is later, like 6:30 or 7, I can't remember. Just need to make sure I get into the later one no matter what!
  2. has anyone gotten their actual letters and/or orientation packets yet? we're supposed to be registering for classes next week, surprised it's not here yet.
  3. Srowlett - thank you so much for the tips and some insight. Excited but nervous! Congrats MarqueMark!!! Glad you found us! Thanks again ant2cory for getting that fb page up and running for us
  4. Mcalvin - my advisor told me a few months ago that MANY people from the waitlist make it in. Family obligations/"real world" problems pop up and people have to hold off afterall, money becomes an issue, also she said after the orientation a lot of people decide it's too much and they drop their spot. Please keep us updated and let us know if/when you hear anything! ant2cory - I can't send private messages yet and I don't know if it will let me post my real name on here....... not sure how we can find one another on fb! Can you pm?
  5. I got a call last night and my advisor left me a message to call her. I didn't actually get ahold of her until this morning around 10am with the official word. I have my fingers crossed for you mcalvin! ant2cory - I have friends who have gone through nursing school that used FB groups to communicate outside the classroom, ask homework questions, etc. It seems so useful! Obviously our class will be decent sized, I think it's 64 students, but maybe if in the next few weeks we set up a FB group and just start adding the people that we know, soon enough we'll have a decent amount in there that way we can start to get to know one another. Anyone planning to enroll in one or both of the summer nursing courses? I may try to take NURS 200 the first half of the summer semester just to get it out of the way. Did anyone's advisor tell them exactly when the orientation will be?
  6. I got in!!! nwayne, so sorry to hear, but at least you have a back-up plan. Goldfarb is a good school! To everyone that was accepted: maybe we should start a facebook group for our class?
  7. I do not trust the advisors much. Actually, my current advisor isn't so bad, I really like her, but one of my friends has her too and she's said things to me that don't match what she said to my friend. I do trust her quite a bit more that my old advisor. He was no help whatsoever. Anyway, she told me the same thing, my original advisor told me lowest was a 3.49, but my new advisor told me 3.2 (which matches with what you were told). If it's a 3.2 I would think I would be a shoe-in, but I've also heard they take work history and background into consideration, which I have zero background in anything medical - who knows. Good to know they probably won't go out for a few weeks still though! Thanks!
  8. GAH I GOT THE SAME LETTER. How evil is it that they send those letters out while we're all axiously waiting for our acceptance letters. EVIL. I wanted to throw up when I was opening the letter because I was so nervous lol. We'll just have to keep waiting........ impatiently...
  9. ...AND the wait is already killing me! Hurry up, letters!!
  10. mcalvin - I've been flusterated with information given to me as well. The advisors don't seem to be very much help. Cheers to the new semester and hopefully we can stand the wait to find out if we are accepted :)
  11. Jackpp which programs in the stl area do you recommend? I am working on my pre-reqs for the maryville weekend and evening program right now.. on track to be accepted to next fall 2014's class, but if there is something better out there that I am unaware of I'd really like to hear about it! I've looked into UMSL, but their part-time programs is spread out over 3.5 years instead of 2.5. I'd like a BSN so community colleges are a no-go, plus they don't work with my schedule at all.
  12. What classes is everyone enrolled in over the spring? I'm in Micro, Contemporary Math, and Psych of Adjustment. Finishing my pre-reqs with statistics over teh summer and also finishing up a psych minor.
  13. I've also applied for fall 2014!! Finishing up the rest of my pre-reqs in the spring and finishing up a psych minor over my summer classes. Heres to hoping for the best!
  14. Congrats on acceptance! I've heard 3.4 was the lowest as well, which is what was making me so nervous. My embarrassing grades were from when I was 18/19 as well - but I'm 24 now so it hasn't been long enough to get grade forgiveness! I'm just going to keep going at it the best I can and hopefully if I am able to get mostly As they will be able to overlook my previous F! By the way, have you been through A&P with the online labs?? I just started A&P1 this semester and the whole online lab thing is weird to me. Does it end up actually being effective? Thanks for the info :)
  15. My school doesn't require nutrition as a pre-req but it's one of the first classes in the nursing curriculum. I'm really looking forward to eventually taking a nutrition class because I already do alot of nutrition research on my own just out of personal interests. I was kind of disappointed that it's not a pre-req like it is at so many other schools.
