I haven't heard about any of these schools and don't know how credible they are. Any input would be great if you know about these fnp programs or currently attending.
What is difficulty rate?
Can i work full time as RN or do I have to go to part time?
Any input would be great.

Hi!
I actually attend Maryville University and so far I like it. The only discrepency I see among other students is the inconsistency with assignments with certain instructors. Some insturctors required you to contribute more than the requirements to get the overall points needed for classes and some just was okay with the bear minimum. for example, you make your originial discussion post by wednesday (day 3) and have to respond scholarly to two classmates ( by day 6). some professors wants other students to respond to 3 instead of 2 when 2 is the requirement in the rubric. My professor was awesome but i can not speak for others. I have only taken the Theory and Evidence based practice class so i can give you a better perception of classes and full time work this semester while taking leadership and pathophysiology. So far it is doable. what i do enjoy is when it is time to comeplete your discussion feedback portion you can respond to everyone within the same day instead of waiting numerous days to respond. we have a great deal of group work which can be at times annoying. if you have a great group of people that are willing to work with you than your fine. i had two great groups and hopefully i will get the same group members again.before classes start they sorta give you a "sneak peak" of the course and send you the syllabus ( which i am currently waiting on).the classes are 8 weeks long but i believe my patho class will be 16 weeks long which is fine with me ( too much info for 8 weeks) but i do hear we are the last class the patho will be for 16 weeks.anything you want at this level of the game will be a challenge. just go for it. i have a 6 year old and a 7 month old that drives me crazy but by being focus and studying any time i get i will get through this journey and so can you.i hope that helps.

Hi, I'm currently enrolled at Walden University. So far, I love it!!! I'm in second quarter/semester. The professors are awesome!! I work full time, take care of my kids, my husband, my dad, and I have a part time job. Right now I have a 4.0 GPA, so it's doable!! Good Luck!
takenya1,
are you taking the part time 24 month or the full time 18 month. Is it possible to take 18 month with full time nursing job? at what point to do start clinicals?

Happy New Year! Maryville University's FNP program is a very credible and quality program. I believe our student retention rate speaks to our student satisfaction. Retention in the Maryville online nursing programs is 98%. Furthermore, pass rate on nursing licensure is over 96%. I encourage you to check-out Maryville's website--www.maryville.edu. Maryville is recognized on a national level by US News and World Report, Kiplinger's, and Personal Finance. Most recently, Maryville University was recognized by US News and World Report as the nation's #1 Over Performing University. If you would like to talk to me personally, please forward me your contact information to [email protected]. BTW, I am the VP for the Maryville University School of Adult and Online Education. I look forward to talking with you.

@Jpowers, I will be starting my second semester at Maryville, I work full time, ,married with a 5year old and a one year old. It is definitely doable it is about knowing what is due and planning a schedule/routine that works for you. They are some weeks that will be slower than others in the sense that you will have less due, use that time to catch up on busier weeks. Discussion board is due every wednesday, weekly group meetings then a big project on sundays. So far no tests(although I hear we will be doing test in Patho), just tons of papers. Let me know if you need any further assistance

Just wondering if anyone is attending Walden University that is from MN? I have contacted the BON about Walden to make sure it is recognized in MN so I know I can practice as a nurse practitioner after graduating but the only answer I got is that since they are based out of MN it should be fine, I want a yes or no for sure answer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I am the Vice President of the College of Health Sciences at Walden and I can tell you yes, the program is approved by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education. Here is a link to the page on the website that includes Walden University's approved programs for your reference http://www.ohe.state.mn.us/sPagesOHE/PIRInfo.cfm?instID=429&1534-D83A_1933715A=c638b56abb080eb6ce89fa4c71f2691559d74ddc. Students who successfully complete the MSN Nurse Practitioner specializations will be eligible to sit for national nurse practitioner certification exams, which are required for practice as a nurse practitioner in Minnesota. If you have any further specific questions related to Walden, please contact us at 1 (866) 492-5336 to speak with an enrollment advisor who will be happy to assist you.

I just got an acceptance letter to Walden In June. I debated between Walden and Maryville. I finally made my decision, thanks to everyone on the blogs commenting so highly of Walden. I just hope I am making the right choice. Its still not to late for me to change my mind.. I will have to work full time at least for the first 6-12 months and hope it is doable. I really would like to take the 18 month route. Any suggestions?
That is awesome. Please keep me updated. I sure need some encouraging words from other mothers that have to try and juggle family life and working full time, along with going back to school. I will start at Walden in June. I have a husband and teenage daughter and work full time(5 days a week).
Does anyone know what the retention rate is at Walden for the FNP program?
