Marymount University Arlington VA

U.S.A. Virginia

Is there anyone here who is going to Marymount University in Arlington? Marymount is one of the colleges I am looking into for their BSN program. I understand it's pretty competitive to get into and that their is an entrance exam called the ATI-TEAS? I have to wait atleast another year to apply so I am just gathering as much information as possible. I was wondering if there is room and board available to students over 21. I see that they require students under 21 who's family live 25 miles or more away to live at Marymount. I would like as much information as I can get! Thanks.

I'll find out if I'm accepted there in a 1 1/2 weeks. I live in the No VA area and Marymount has been one of the top Nursing schools around here for years. Most, if not all, of the nursing programs in this area are competitive for admission. The entrance exam Marymount requires is a general education exam, not too difficult, but there are options that exempt you from the test if you qualify. Hope this info helps.

I am in the BSN program at Marymount (transfer student from NOVA) and will start clinicals in the fall. I am trying to complete everything except for NUR classes so I can give myself a little less of a workload.

At Marymount, there are no pre-reqs to any NUR classes as long as you are accepted into the program but must BIO162 before you can take a NUR300 level course.

The TEAS test wasn't too difficult. I purchased the workbook online and completed the workbook before hand.

Campus housing is only guaranteed to Freshmen, many of the undergrads live at local hotels (which is paid for by room and board). Not my idea of the greatest college experience, but some do enjoy it.

I am 25 and live off campus, but the commute is killer (sometimes 2 hours one way) and then have to factor in plenty of time to find a parking spot. It is downtown NOVA. :imbar You are definately better off living on campus if you can.

Let me know if I can give you any other info. I love Marymount and can't wait to start my Nursing courses! :)

Ella, I'm glad that you like Marymount...but what made you transfer from NOVA to Marymount?? Marymount is super expensive and quite frankly the nursing program doesnt even worth half of the tuition they charge.

Having said that, the quality of the clinicals and classes are decent and you will be prepared to take the NCLEX upon graduation. I know this for a fact b/c Im in their accelerated BSN program and everyone that I know from last semester all passed the NCLEX on their first attempt.

If u have any questions poetry, feel free to PM me.

I'm just curious of two things....

1) if you don't think the program is worth the cost, why are you in it?

2) what, in your opinion, is a good/worthwhile BSN program in the NOVA area?

Thanks,

Jason

I was one of the last classes they accepted at Marymount before they started the BSN program. Private message me for specific questions!

I was told my the residence life office I would have to live off campus, which was way too expensive for me and my loans would not cover it.

I got accepted into Marymount Accelerated program previously and decided not to go. I have now reapplied and are awaiting a response for fall 2007. In the meantime ive been accepted for a diploma program (the best in my area 100% NCLEX pass rate). Im torn between if im accepted to marymount should i go and get it over with in 1 year & stick it out with the high cost of living or do the diploma(22months) where I could live at home free and bridge over to the MS. I already have a B.S. Psych. Im trying to find the best option for expenses, time, & living so I can hurry up and get my MS. Thanks for any suggestions!
