  1. Just don't do what I did and test on a Friday, it makes for a long weekend. Test any other day (as long as it's not the day before a holiday) and you can have your results the next day.

I second the other suggestions and also would add to buy a drug calculation workbook and start on it. Do some every day...and you will start out ahead of your classmates.
  3. JennNJ83, you will get a bag with those supplies in your fundamentals nursing course. When I was in MU it was nursing 231, but I am not sure what it is anymore. They include the cost of those items in your first semester tuition...you get a stethoscope, BP cuff, clinical bag, practice syringes etc.
  4. My new grad orientation starts in July as well. Many of my nursing school buddies are still waiting for their ATT, so I think the hospitals are smart for putting orientation in later July. I was wondering, how is it that you can still work as a tech in your hospital? Are they paying you an RN salary? From what my nursing school profs claim is that when you work as a tech and have a license, if something happens you are still required to act as a licensed RN in case litigation were to come up.
  5. I can't believe the nerve of some people sometimes!
  6. I am in Virginia and it worked for me! Virginia doesn't participate in the early results.
  7. My BSN program required a score of 70% on the exit exam to graduate. I scored an 82% which gave me a 99% prediction that I would pass NCLEX the first time around...and I did! I hated ATI at the time, but looking back on it, I studied so hard for ATI that when it came down to NCLEX, I just needed to review instead of cramming for 2 weeks.
  8. The trick worked for me!!! I tested on Friday, came home, logged in and got the pop up. It's what kept me sane over the weekend because my state doesn't participate in quick results. I called my BON this morning and I am a RN!
  9. Good luck, you guys!!!!!!!! I just graduated from Marymount on Sunday!
  10. The TEAS isn't really so bad. It's a basic "what do you know" type thing. If you already have an undergrad degree you will be fine. I had to take it because I didn't have a degree already, I was a transfer from our local community college...Northern VA community College...which also has a well known ASN program. I hope you find a school that fits your needs! Good luck!
  11. Here is a book on the subject: http://www.elsevier.com/wps/find/bookdescription.cws_home/707261/description#description I haven't read it so I don't know how great it is, but it should be on Amazon with reviews. I am going to pick up a copy as well!
  12. Med surg 2 is not easy! Congratulations!
  13. I am responding to a private message I got from this thread. I won't post the user name just in case they didn't want it posted. I guess I can't respond to PM's since I don't have enough posts...anyways, I hope you see this! As far as I know now, Marymount has had a drop in applications mainly because the economy. MU is a private school with tuition close to $22,000 a year, but the AccBSN program is only two years. Also, from what I can see on the website, the program doesn't evaluate GPA, the only thing they do is require you to take the TEAS test prior to admission if your GPA is currently less than 2.8. As far as the nursing program itself, well it had its good and bad. The good: The program is small. My graduating class is 60 (I think) and the professors all know who you are and what you do (also can be counted as bad). The school of nursing also requires you to take a comp ATI exam before graduation. I feel very prepared to pass the NCLEX, and that is what matters. The bad: Well, MU is small, private and catholic, so we are not as well known. I feel sometimes that we are passed up for clinical spots and locations more than the well known schools around here such as Mason or GW. If you have any questions about the program, just call! Everyone in the health professions office is very helpful. Good luck! http://www.marymount.edu/academic/healthprof/nursing/admissioninfo.html#1
  14. Marymount University is in Arlington, VA, only a few miles from DC and has a second degree accelerated BSN program. It's a private university, but I believe they have a good nursing program. I graduate in 19 days!
  15. My opinion is Chem. College Chemistry was HARD for me and if I have done better in high school chem and learned the basics instead of just trying to pass, I would have done better in college chemistry. That being said, Anatomy isn't a piece of cake either, but I found it "easier" than chem. And, good luck !!!!
