2015 Maryland Hospitals-New Grad ADN

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hello, can you please provide hospitals in the southern Maryland area (Silver Spring, Bethesda, Rockville, etc) that hire new grad ADNs in 2015?

I've talked to Holy Cross and they only hire new grad ADNs from Montgomery Community College. No luck with Suburban (I've applied).

And if you want to throw in updates on DC, that's welcome too. I've heard only GW and Providence will hire new grad ADNs. Looks like WHC is out and so is Georgetown. No luck with GW, Providence, Sibley, Children's, or WHC.

Been applying for new grad programs since February with no luck. Thank you!

Like you, I was searching for ADN new grad positions last December. I finally got a job interview at PG Hospital in February 2015 and started in early April. I know many people are hesitant to apply there (and yes at times it can be hard dealing with the patients/families and being short staffed and low on supplies) but if you can work there, you can work anywhere. They should be having another open house sometime this month or August. Keep checking the job posting at least twice a day and apply (its an easy apply; just set up a profile and select the position and hit submit). I almost gave up on searching until out of habit I went to their website and I saw the new grad position and applied. Not even 3 hours later I was called to set up an interview the next week. Good luck!

Specializes in Emergency Department.

Actual southern MD is very open to ADN new grads -- Calvert Memorial Hospital, MedStar St. Mary's Hospital or MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center.

Thank you both. I'll check out the hospitals you mentioned. I've heard horror stories about med star southern md hospital center. U think its ok to work there as a new grad (or period)? Heard nurses felt their license was in jeopardy working there...unsafe practices and such.

Hello lululadyRN

Just wondering if you have found a RN position since u started this thread. I am currently in the position of looking a nursing job. I got my license in August and have been applying to everything since. I don't have a BSN but I have started a RN to BSN program. I'm really starting to lose hope

Do new grads with BSN have a better chance of landing a job or is it that these hospitals (such as in Rockville Silver Springs etc.) want new grads from particular schools?

This seems to be all across the board from California to Maryland such an outcry for the need for nurses yet new grads have a hell of a time landing a job :(

I'm just curious as to what you are hearing or what these hospitals are wanting...

thank you.
