Marquette Direct Entry MSN 2012

Published

Hi! Any Marquette hopefuls this app. cycle? I'm a little ahead of the game here but am too excited not to be =0) I'm applying to the CNM track!

Is anybody interested in carpooling from surrounding cities by Milwaukee? I live an hour and a half north right now, but am planning to move further south (1.5h might be too much of a commute). I don't want to live in the city of Milwaukee, and am hoping to choose a town where another student lives. Let me know if you can!

Where is everyone looking to live? My parents live only 45 min away so I may commute for a little while until I can find a place but has anyone heard/found out what rent prices are like in the area?

And abz I would be interested in carpooling but my parents live in Burlington!

I rented a one bedroom on the east side for a little under $800/month. Parking costs extra though ($50-100). There were one bedrooms near campus for that price or cheaper, but the area was really sketchy. There is this annoying rent assistance program that means a lot of places are advertised ad cheaper than they really are, and full time students don't qualify. I even had a couple of buildings tell me they didn't allow students to live there at all. I was only able to look one weekend though, since I am out of state.

Gotcha. Thanks! I have a friend who goes to Marquette for undergrad and she said she can find out more about grad student apts as well. I'm hoping to find something a little cheaper (with a roommate if possible). Just because I won't be able to work during this program so I'll be tight on money... Ha

I would have been looking for something cheaper too, but I have a built-in roommate (boyfriend). :)

I can't wait until my "information packet" comes. I'm wondering if there is registration information in there.

same as wpolorocker, i have a built-in roommate/bf as well! its a good and bad thing, lol. having a roommate in this program would be extremly helpful. & i agree, the rent websites online are less than helpful. i wonder if could run down there and find a rent magazine, or if i'll have to ride through towns and neighborhoods for a month to find a nice place. ... also, does anyone fully understand the np choices? over anything, i'd prefer to be a fnp, but marquette doesn't have that program, and i'm not moving out of state to get it. so, i'm assuming the anp program would be most similiar. from my understanding, the choices are: acute adult, adult, older adult, midwife, pediatrics? any clarification on this would be helpful. i'm talking with nps all this week to make sure i'm making a good choice. between finding a place to live, and making sure this is the right program, i sure wish i would have started sooner!

I can't wait to get the info packet either! There should be registration info in there from what I understand. There really is so much to take care of before starting this! Ha If my friend gives me any helpful info about places to live I'll pass it on.

I feel like I won't even be ready to start when the time comes with all the layers being unveiled bit by bit (small exaggeration). On another note, it's starting to feel like Spring is on the horizon here...

I already got my info packet and yes, it does give info on registration and stuff. One thing you can get started on is compiling your shot records. I had to look up my pediatrician that I haven't seen in 12 years to get proof that I had chicken pox as a child. What a pain! Karen Nest emailed out something about housing as well. She has also been trying to match up roommates.

Just registered for Summer classes...
