Marquette Direct Entry MSN 2012

Published

Hi! Any Marquette hopefuls this app. cycle? I'm a little ahead of the game here but am too excited not to be =0) I'm applying to the CNM track!

I just registered too! So exciting!

Specializes in nursing education.
From my understanding, the choices are: acute adult, adult, older adult, midwife, pediatrics? Any clarification on this would be helpful. I'm talking with NPs all this week to make sure I'm making a good choice.

Here is the link to the program and all the choices. This page contains a link to each program and its course requirements.

Master of Science in Nursing (M.S.N.) | Graduate Programs | College of Nursing| | College of Nursing | Marquette University

The MSN choices are: adult-older adult-acute care N.P.

adult-older adult-primary care: C.N.S. or N.P.

pediatric primary care: N.P./C.N.S.

pediatric acute care: N.P.

They don't offer FNP, psych, or WHNP. With the new ANP consensus model, adult and older adult is together for both NP and CNS. I think older adult is just left over on the site- they don't update as often as they could.

what day did everyone sign up to take the health assessment lab? I decided on the 9-5 on Tuesdays. yikes! Long day, but I figured I'd rather have that than 10 hour days on both Monday and Wednesday.

I took the Mon-Wed option right after lecture. I don't live on campus and preferred to just make the days I had to be there a little longer as opposed to adding another long day to the mix. I wonder how insane this is going to feel...

that's a good way to look at it too. this is going to feel pretty insane I have a feeling! finishing pathophysiology in 4 weeks..definitely going to be a little rough! they never said reaching your goal would be easy, though!

I'm looking forward to that class a lot! Then again, I'm a total bio dork :) But for real I bet it will be one of our more interesting classes. Personally, I'm not especially looking forward to the theory based classes!

Side-note--ordered books off of Amazon and you can get them at I would imagine the best price. Also, does anyone have any idea where the clinicals starting in fall will be held? I'm wondering if we will be able to have them at the hospitals right next to Marquette or if we will have to travel a bit.

From what I understand we will have to do some traveling. But that's just what I've heard generally.

I don't know if anyone is still waiting to hear back from admissions, but I turned down my acceptance last week. Good luck to those of you who are enrolling and starting classes in a month! :)

Anyone having a bit of confusion with the online Magnus stuff? ...The e-mail said it was due 05/29, and then the website says it's due 07/29.

Well, I have done everything that I can so far. Obviously we can't upload our RN licenses because we don't have them yet, and I am taking CPR at Marquette. I would just get everything else done before you get to school.

Would you mind posting your admissions statistics? undergrad GPA, pre-req GPA, etc, prior experience? I am looking to apply to the direct entry masters program. Thanks!

Hello!

I am finishing up my undergrad and currently in human anatomy and will be taking human physiology and micro next semester.

I just applied for this summers cycle for the direct entry...do i stand a chance getting in with those classes not being on my transcript by the December 31st deadline?

Also, I'm really interested in dermatology... does anyone know how I would get into that...I dont think marquette has any specialty like that

thanks!!
