Marquette Direct Entry MSN 2012

Published

Hi! Any Marquette hopefuls this app. cycle? I'm a little ahead of the game here but am too excited not to be =0) I'm applying to the CNM track!

Well.. it will probably be three more weeks until the next round goes out. *sigh*

Portland! I always wanted to go there :) I'm 2 months shy of 25 and from about 20min north of Milwaukee. Did my undergrad in Biology and have always been very interested in health care and medicine. A NP is pretty much my my ideal job :o)

So classes start May 29th, any ideas when the orientation will be? Maybe April? I'm so excited!!!!

I currently live in Dallas and I'm 22. I got my undergrad in music. I've never been to Milwaukee so I'm visiting next weekend. Im still taking A&P II and am having the hardest time focusing because I'm so excited! Anyone else still taking prereqs? I dropped my chem II class yesterday since I dont nees it and feel like a weight has been lifted!

For those of you who have been accepted, do you mind sharing what your GPA and backgrounds are? I'm waiting patiently over here in NH to hear something and am wondering if I'm in the same caliber as those who have been accepted... Thank you and congrats!

gglove317 - my cumulative gpa is a 3.5, my bachelor's degree is in exercise science with minors in biology and psychology. i have two levels of emt certifications, volunteered at a free clinic during school, and spent a lot of time shadowing during undergrad. hope that helps, good luck!!!!

Thanks! My bachelor's is in Recreation Management with a minor in sports marketing. I didn't do well my freshman year in Finance and graduated with a 3.03, but my last 60 credit hours were a 3.37; I had a 3.46 for my major and a 3.48 in prerequisites for the MSN program. I have my BLS, volunteer doing home care for the elderly on the weekends outside of my regular 40+ hours a week job, have done lots of shadowing also over the past few years and am always looking for new volunteer opportunities.

All of this is so stressful! I applied to 7 schools and have already been rejected by 3, so now I'm panicking! Thanks for you feedback, though. I really appreciate it!

Gglove,It sounds like you have more health care experience than I do. I have a CNA license but have never worked as one. My GPA was pretty high though, undergrad 3.7 and prereqs 4.0. I applied to 9 schools and was rejected by 4 and accepted by Marquette. MU was my second choice though so I'm going. Good luck!

What about UHM, wpolorocker? You haven't heard from the yet, right?

Nope, haven't heard from them yet.

Thanks, you too! What other schools did you apply to? I've already been rejected by Pace, Southern Maine and Boston College. I can't imagine you getting rejected with that awesome GPA! I almost feel like I have to have a 4.5 and be Mother Theresa's protege in order to get accepted...

I applied to Southern Maine (I was kinda confused by this rejection...it was supposed to be a "safety"), Penn (rejected), Yale (rejected), Boston College (rejected), Seattle University, Simmons College, Massachusetts General Hospital, UH Manoa, and Marquette. I spent a fortune on application fees. Lol. These programs are all so competitive that I applied to most of the ones I met the prereq requirements for.

Pace and USM seemed like easier programs to get into! I'm still waiting on UMass, Northeastern, Jefferson and Marquette. Where are you located? It really makes me wonder what I have to do to get in somewhere. A girl that got an interview at Northeastern spent several years in China and South Africa caring for orphans... I just don't think I can compete!
