  1. If it makes you feel better, I know that Niki Kelley, in charge of admissions, is out of the office until tomorrow according to her email signature! Just be persistent. Kindly persistent! :)
  2. Good luck Tinana! I'm sure you'll do great! And the bonus about Jeff is that you will usually find out 24 hours after your interview... I'm not sure if that's good to tell you or not, but at least you'll know sooner rather than later! Where are you currently located?
  3. Congrats lovepink! Did you have an interview? I haven't heard many people even getting interviews yet!
  4. I am also declining the hybrid program and going to a different traditional program instead. Best of luck to all of you!
  5. heramay22- I spoke with admissions and have some answers for you. I'm not sure about the Masters portion, but all of your undergraduate classes are online for the 16 months. I would think that many of the Masters classes, if not all, are also online because they limit the options to Nursing Admin or Neonatal NP. If you are interested in another specialty, you have to work as an RN for at least 6 months and then reapply to the graduate school in the specialty you would like, but you must remember you're competing against matriculated traditional NEU DE students as well as other RNs looking to go to graduate school with much more experience under their belts. As far as the deposit, you need to send in the $600 regardless of whether you want to do the May start or September start. I'm not sure you can defer longer than that. I was told that we would be under lots of supervision from the regular program in Boston because they want to be sure this program works well and NEU doesn't lose the reputation they have built for a superior program. What it basically comes down to is whether you think you'll succeed in an online class environment as opposed to a traditional classroom environment. That is the decision I am currently trying to make for myself. Good luck to you!
  6. SO excited for you, hale.bale! Congrats on Simmons! This is what I mean by UMass missing out on great candidates because people need to put deposits in SOMEWHERE, or they could totally miss a shot if UMass doesn't come through! I didn't put a specialty down but they knew from the open house that I wanted to do pediatrics. My official NEU letter is dated March 8th but I only was emailed it today, and they want an answer by April 2. That's 1 week to decide! I'm going to ask if I can get an extension. I need to decide about Jefferson by April 13th, but I think I'm leaning in that direction just because like you said with Simmons, I really felt wanted and welcomed by them. Basically I should be really happy that I have these options, but it's freaking me out and I'm borderline hyperventilating about this decision. GAH!
  7. I don't know. I only got accepted today and have just a week to send in my deposit. That's very little time for very little information about a program. I'm supposed to be getting a packet in the mail with more info, but we'll see. I'm not sure how keen I am on the whole online course set up. Not being able to ask questions when I have them is bothersome. Anyone else have any thoughts?
  8. @hale.bale - I just got a call about the hybrid program. I am so beyond confused because they never contacted me for an interview. I was told it could be in nursing admin or in neonatal, and that you could reapply to the msn portion after the bsn was complete if you wanted to do something else. I'm so confused about all of this, and mostly kind of mad for you because clearly you were worthy of an interview, why not be contacted about the hybrid program? It smells a little fishy to me.
  9. I never had an interview and nothing was updated online, and I was just accepted into the hybrid program. I am so confused...
  10. Halebale - sorry to hear about that What is this business I hear about a hybrid program? I haven't heard anything at all from Northeastern or UMass. I've checked N-yoU and it still says I don't have an admissions decision but I definitely didn't get an interview. I called UMass last week and left a message to find out about the progress of things because I was accepted to Jefferson and have to decide about that in 2 weeks or I lose my spot... I wish schools coordinated or actually kept within the time lines advertised... it's a huge decision to make and the lack of communication just makes things more difficult.
  11. Look by state for nursing programs. Sometimes you won't see it on a generic site, but if you look on the school website, you may find that they do indeed have a direct entry program. I'd suggest you get your BSN first, even though you probably already have a BS or BA, because many hospitals are now requiring a 4 year degree before they hire any RNs, and you may want to work as an RN for a bit before pursuing the MSN portion. Here's a list by state of some 2nd degree BSN programs - and many of these may also have MSN programs: http://www.bestnursingdegree.com/programs/accelerated-bsn/ And here's a link I found for Cali schools: http://prenursingsociety.wordpress.com/resources/accelerated-nursing-programs-in-california/ Hopefully that helps you a bit. Google is a master at throwing out these little gems with more info, so don't be afraid to spend a few hours really digging around. I wish you lots of luck!
  12. Thanks Faith! I applied to 7 different schools. LOTS OF RESEARCH! I'd be happy to share my list with you - where are you located and in what area are you looking to live/go to school? I stuck with the northeast, mid-atlantic and northern midwest regions. I'm sorry you didn't get accepted. These are incredibly difficult programs to get into, and I've gotten my own handful of rejection letters, so please don't get down on yourself. If you want it, eventually you'll make it happen! :)
  13. Interviewed today and accepted today!!!! So excited about this!
  14. I have no idea - but I do know that getting an interview at Northeastern definitely does NOT signify that you get it... they interview about 100 people for 24 spots...
  15. i don't see anything either... hmm.
