Marijuana and LPN School - Will this disqualify me from getting a LPN license?

Nurses Criminal

Hello,

I want to become a LPN. I have a clean criminal history but I did smoke marijuana one time and I had a panic attack over it. It was so bad that I had to go to the hospital. I told the Doctor what I smoked and I believe that it was written in my medical file for that visit. Will this disqualify me from getting a LPN license? Would the licensing body for LPN's ever know about this or does HIPAA keep this information private?

Don't smoke again, clean your system and you will be fine. Schools don't have access to your files

you could become an LPN, but i believe smoking once qualifies you for

Depends on if you inhaled or not....cue the Clinton tenor saxophone.

OP, I really wouldn't worry about it. I'm sure many people have had similar experiences, and your school would have no access to your medical record as a whole.

If you told this to your MD and he put it in your medical record, then it should be protected by HIPAA. I think you will be fine. Don't worry about it.

And find a better way to manage your anxiety, ok? :)

I thought it was covered by HIPAA but I was not sure. I have only smoked once and that was the reason for my anxiety. This was years ago and I will never try it again. To everyone who posted: Thanks for all the help!

They don't pull your records. Instead there is a health physical form that the doctor has to fill out.
