Maricopa Waiting List / Placement / Timestamps 2010+

U.S.A. Arizona

Hey everyone, I wanted to start a place for people to post and repost about waitlist times, placement runs, and their timestamps.

It is very hard searching for all the information and maybe people will access this thread and keep it updated with information so we all can get some idea on where we stand in line for Maricopa Nursing Placement.

As for me I have a

6/11/10 8:01:32 Timestamp. The placement just ran on March 6th,2012 and I was not placed. On the application website it says that the placement did NOT reach the June timestamps. This will mark 5 semesters that I was not placed (was expecting a 3 semester wait)

I am curious how far the placement ran. If people that were placed during the last placement run (3/6/12) come across this thread and would be willing to post their timestamp and what school choice number (1 through 5) they were placed in that would give an indicator how far away it is.

With almost 2500 people still on the waiting list it looks like it can be a 4-5 year wait for people just now getting on it. :(

Look forward to chatting with all of you and good luck.

Thanks for the update! I've been waiting since February and was told wait was 6 months to 1 year. Let's see how long it is.

I just got my time stamp today for 8/6/15 at 8:00:09. I was told that we could get in as little as a semester wait, meaning spring 2016. So my question is this, all of you that have time stamps from June 2015 and before, what is your status? Have you all been placed? if not, does that mean I probably won't get in for spring 2016? I'm only applying for mcc morning traditional session. Thank you!!! :)

I've been on the Wait list since February. I haven't heard a thing yet. I too heard this list is short but not as short as one semester. Good luck

What schools did you choose?

I chose Mesa and chandler

Did you choose morning or afternoon for Mesa? I'm choosing Mesa morning. I hadn't filled out any other options but now I am thinking maybe I should?

If you only choose one spot, your wait may be longer. But you have to do what's best for you and your schedule. I only had two choices on mine because it was not at all feasible for me to fit a random, changing schedule in with my kids schedules and then on top of that have to drive over 40 min to another school in rush hour traffic, both ways.

So I was limited in my choices, and had two programs selected for mine and my wait was less than a year. I deferred because I'm doing the CEP but otherwise I would be starting August 2015 and my time stamp was August 2014.

So do only what is best for you. Don't let the longer wait scare you, if you really cannot make it work or it would be a HUGE burden and problem to attend a different school then just leave it off.

What schools were your two choices if you don't mind me asking? It's not that the drive would be a huge issue, it's mostly because my friends in the medical field are highly encouraging That I only wait for MCC. So I just keep thinking should I wait for MCC and potentially wait for longer because they say it's a better experience?

I had Estrella as my first and Glendale evening/weekend as my second. I was placed at Glendale evening.

I'm going to do the CEP at Estrella though.

The curriculum is going to be the same at all the Maricopa schools but I know people like to talk about one school being "better" then another. It boils down to instructors pretty much, but the overall program is going to be the same at each school.

I can vouge for SCC being a fantastic program. If you put in the effort, the instructors really want to see you exceed. I havent seen any bullying or anything like that toward specific students. I have seen poor students blame instructors though. The health science building is completely remodeled with mostly new equipment as of just 2 years ago. We get great clinical placements. From what I hear, the top programs to choose from are SCC, MCC, GWCC, and PC. You really can't go wrong with any of the programs, the ones I listed just have been around an incredibly long time (SCC for 40 years and the director of nursing was a graduate in SCCs early days), and have a solid track record for NCLEX pass rates.

I don't know if its just a difference semesters because I havent started block 4 yet, but some friends took block 4 at GWCC and said that even though the tests were difficult, they werent as difficult as the tests from SCC. So that is something to keep in mind. But if the harder tests are better preparing us for NCLEX, then I'm Ok with that.

I there is not a scheduling conflict, then definitely open up your choices to more schools. Yes, MCC is a great program from what I hear (also pretty new building and equipment and been around for a while), but its not the only good option. Maybe put it as your first option, then list a few others. If you don't get accepted to MCC but do get accepted to a different one for Spring, at least you will have the option to accept and start right away, or to wait one more semester for MCC.

Also, a strategy for getting the program option you want is to have only MCC listed for he first 2 placements runs. A good amount of students who get placed in the 1st and second run defer for CEP. If you get accepted at any school but MCC and defer, you are taken out of the placement cycle completely until the next semester. But if you keep MCC as your only option and dont get placed 1st round but someone defers their MCC spot, then you may get lucky enough to grab that spot during 2nd placement. If you havnt been placed by 2nd round, then open up your choices if you want a better chance at getting another program spot. But keep in mind, you may lose out on a spot to other programs by only having one for the 1st 2 placement rounds. Its a gamble either way.

Thank you so much for all of the info. Especially the strategy idea. I live right by Chandler Gilbert but not a single person I've talked to tell me to put them down. Opinions? I think I'm just going to stick with mcc morning as my only option for the first few placements and go from there like you said.

I'm too thinking if I should only put Mesa down? Is chandler really that bad.
