Maricopa CEP Spring 2021 (Applicants for May 1st- June 2nd)

Published

Hey everyone! I know we're a few weeks out til applications are accepted, but I figured I'd kick this off sooner than later. Who's applying for the CEP program next month?

They pushed the application dates back due to the COVID 19. Are you guys having any trouble talking to an advisor?

Where are you guys going to apply?

GPA?

HESI scores?

Overall points?

I'm applying to EMCC first choice, GCC second choice, and PCC third choice with ASU.

GPA 3.61

HESI Eng 91.33

HESI Math 98

No prior degree

Overall points 82.77

Hey everyone - I actually received a call from the GCU advisor today and I applied to EMCC. He told me I was "unofficially" accepted into the program and that I should be receiving an email as early as this evening. So it might be possible that some of us could start receiving emails today. Good luck to everyone!

He told me the same last week!! I applied to emcc as well . We should exchange phone numbers after we both officially get accepted, just so when our classes at emcc start we can study together and such!!

Hi guys, wanted to drop in as well. I applied to GCU's masters and picked PCC and SCC as my choices. Just wanted to say I haven't heard anything yet, wasn't sure exactly how long things would take cause of COVID. I also never received any confirmation or anything which is somewhat frustrating, I'm not sure that will all the emails I sent that anyone actually even put in an app for me.

GPA: Around 3.5 IDK because I took a few different classes than the required ones. IE English 105 at NAU counts as 101 and 102 joint so IDK.

English: 93

Math: 90

Previous bachelor's

so my score is somewhere in the 80's I'm sure.

I know every cc is different. Were you told someone else was going to submit for you. I’m asking because I was able to submit myself and just cc’d my advisor on the app. I received verification both from the nursing pool and my advisor and then the university

That’s awesome. CONGRATS.

I had to submit my stuff through emails. I actually noticed I got a confirmation of submission but it was in my advising notes in our Maricopa thing. I can't imagine most of us won't get accepted everyone has great scores

That’s also my assumption as well. Everyone from the cc’s and even the university’s have mentioned admissions were probably going to be down. I’ve seen 2 people already say they plan to defer because there is a bit of uncertainty and of course working through home and work life.

Even last year, the advisor for GCU's masters program at scottsdaleCC told me that of the 17 students that applied, all 17 got accepted. It's obviously not that simple but I see no reason for anyone to be terribly nervous this time around. It does annoy me a tad that there isn't simply a mass accept/decline email or call sent out. As opposed to this trickle down they do where certain people find out first, it gives people unneeded anxiety.

Indeed - I believe it's a communication/comprehension issue. I spoke with a cc advisor last week and they kept saying "everything" was in the confirmation emails that were sent out on June 5th regarding what to expect during the wait period - hence, accept/decline emails. But nowhere in the June 5th email does it state that students would be receiving independent phone calls from university advisors. The GCU advisor tried to call me twice last week and I missed both calls. So, when I spoke with the cc advisor, they asked me if I "read" the June 5th email because everything regarding communication would be in there. "Yes, I read it. And it does NOT say anything about university advisors CALLING potential candidates!" It seemed like this advisor was trying to insult my intelligence. They were belittling.

They do these interactions so often and so frequently that they forget that we are completely independent of their experiences. What they consider obvious isn't even remotely obvious to us. Every school system I've been to has been like this, they leave people in the dark.

Okay. Although I did receive a confirmation email after submitting my application, I didn't get the June 5th email and I'm panicking. Can someone forward or copy and paste to me? I'm afraid that I may have accidentally deleted it.

It looks like this -

Congratulations on submitting your CEP Application! Your application has been processed and submitted! Please read the following carefully as they may impact your admission to CEP:

Submitting your CEP Application is not a guarantee you will be accepted to CEP. Receiving this email DOES NOT mean you have been accepted to CEP.

Even if you are accepted by the University, you are not accepted to CEP until you are accepted to a Maricopa Nursing Program.

Applications are scored by the following 100-point rubric:

GPA (calculated by the University you are applying to, not Maricopa Nursing Advisor) 40 possible points

HESI-A2 /ENG Comp score 35 possible points

HESI-A2/MAT score 15 possible points

Previous degree (maximum 10 points): Associate 2.5, Bachelor 5, Masters 7.5, PHD 10. Highest degree awarded additional points**

-10 if you have previously failed or withdraw failing from a Nursing program

**degree must be on transcript with conferment date degree was awarded.

Each applicant will be given a total point score and ranked. The students who have the highest number of total points are the ones who are selected.

If you are accepted you will be notified through your maricopa.edu email account. Please forward this email to a personal email so you do not miss any communication.

It is not guaranteed that you will receive your first campus choice, or your first cohort choice.

Acceptance emails will begin going out the week of 6/22/2020 and emails will continue to be sent until all seats are filled.

Declination emails will begin going out to students who are not placed no later than the week of 7/16/2020.

If you are not accepted, you will need to resubmit a CEP Application during the next intake period (December 1, 2020-January 31, 2021).

Please keep in mind that during the time email notifications are being sent for students to accept or decline, there may be several mailings so please be patient while all seats are being filled. Dates may fluctuate slightly due to unforeseen circumstances.

If you have not heard anything by Thursday, July 23, 2020 please contact the Nursing District Office directly at [email protected]

If you are accepted, you will begin the University courses online for the BSN in Fall 2020, and Block 1 with a Maricopa College in Spring 2021.
