Marian University (MU) CRNA 2024 Start

Published

Just wanted to start a thread for Marian University CRNA program hopefuls to help share information. I applied a few weeks ago and got an email saying the application is with the admissions committee and to expect an email about a potential interview in the next 4 weeks.  Good luck everyone!

Did you mention all of this during your interview? I feel like I froze and blacked out and couldn't bring even half of what's on my resume to the forefront of my mind when they were asking ?

I never was directly asked, but was asked about my ICU experience and community service! I froze and fumbled through two questions myself, so don't worry too much!

My stats are all over the place.  I started applying to CRNA programs in 2016 and 2017 and got either waitlisted or rejected (my GPA in my ADN and BSN were high, but I had not done great when first starting out), so I went back to school and got my NP and finishing my DNP next month.

  • Interviewed 10/26 and accepted 11/8
  • 5 years ICU (rural, but high acuity as we were the only ICU that took vents for quite a radius), 8 years flight, 1 year NP in telehealth
  • GPA for my BSN was 3.81, MSN and DNP is 3.85
  • clinical lead, preceptor, made the schedule, and had a lot of leadership in my flight position (most of which I completely forgot to mention)
  • volunteered quite a bit in a broad range of areas (BSA Scouting, Animal Shelter, my kids' school, and such)
Specializes in General ICU.

I got into Marian as well. I will be joining the FB group. Can't wait to get to know you all!!

Specializes in General ICU.

For the people who got in, is anyone willing to share their general stats? I interviewed Oct 26 and haven't heard back yet. I have 1.5 years in level I trauma MICU, I am chair of my nursing professional governance council, and have a 4.0 GPA. I also have got an A in grad level biochemistry and I am currently taking Marian's DNP Biostats course. I also have published nursing research. I thought my stats were good but since I haven't heard back I'm getting concerned!

I will email them if I were you. Do you mind sharing with me how their biostatistics is like?

What are people's plans for the graduate statistics requirement? I know Marian offers their BMS 511 & that would be the simplest, but it is quite pricey. Anyone know of any other online options out there?

Look into portage learning. They have a graduate stats class.

Somebody in the '26 class got accepted in March (2 months before classes) so they took a 2-week online Stats course, and they accepted it. I'd suggest finding a cheap course online and then running it by the registrar's office or running it through their unofficial checker before you pay for it:

The Marian course was an easy, straightforward 4.0 but the semester dragged on and ran right up to the start of the program, so it was just one more thing to do while I was moving to Indy.

You think I should email and ask for an update? I'm just not sure what I would say. And bio stats so far isn't bad, I'm doing the 5-week online accelerated course. It's a little heavy on the assignments but not bad!

Thank you and Yes I think you should email them. That shows you are persistent and really want it bad.

Specializes in OR RN, CVICU RN, Future CRNA.

Does anyone know if today and tomorrow are the last days for interviews?

Specializes in Neurosurgical ICU.

If you're familiar with CRNA prep school academy, there was someone who wrote that they did not get an interview, but because they reached out and essentially said "hey I'm really excited about the opportunity to interview, are you still going through applications?" the faculty decided to interview them and I believe resulted in admission but I can't be sure.

I emailed them the day after my interview (I should have the day of, but nerves).

Who knows if this is what helped their decision as if you scroll through this feed my stats aren't as strong as others, but if they sense your passion and grit this is always helpful.
