Managers and recruiters please critique me!

Published

I am posting my cover letter and resume hoping to get advice. I won't be offended, please be honest! I have tried to keep things very straight forward and to the point. The title says managers and recruiters but I will happily take tips from anyone. Sorry for the rough layout. It's obviously formatted differently in a word doc. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

Cover letter:

Dear Nurse Recruiter,

I am a recent graduate of the College of School and a licensed Registered Nurse. Please accept my application and resume for the entry-level nursing position you have posted on your website. With Your hospital's commitment to quality patient care, and the desire to hire nurses who provide care based upon the nursing process, I am confident that I am a strong candidate for the job. I completed my preceptorship on a medical-surgical floor and am interested in beginning my career within this specialty, or a similar area. I am eager to interview and begin working for you.

My previous work experience is in the veterinary field. Within that field I have become adept at combining medical care with customer satisfaction, knowing the importance of providing a high quality experience. In addition, I believe my animal hospital experience benefits me as a nurse in the following ways: I am able to remain calm and organized in high pressure situations. I am not overwhelmed by the clerical and administrative duties associated with nursing. I am accustomed to advocating for clients and functioning as a liaison between client and doctor. I am an effective team member capable of contributing to continuity of care. With these skills, and more, I will be a positive asset to your organization.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to speaking with you about this employment opportunity.

Sincerely,

Please give me a job, any job. RN
