I recently passed my NCLEX-PN on the 23rd of September thus enabling me to unleash a flurry of applications and resumes to various hospitals and healthcare institutions across Ohio, hoping one of them looks and says "now, HERE's a chap we want working for us!". OK, the "flurry" was actually only 16, and I know that employers don't typically decide to hire you simply from looking at a resume, but nonetheless I got a bite!
(this is the part where my mindless rambling actually means something)
I have an interview scheduled for monday the 13th (tomorrow ) with a Correctional Facility not far from where I live, and I was wondering if I may gain some insight as to what would be acceptable attire to wear. I'm a male so I know that I can get away with the suit and tie gig, but do I really need to go that far? I was thinking of something a little more casual but still "dressy". I have a darker bluish-gray long sleeve button up collared shirt with a black undershirt (I like layers), black dress pants, black shoes/ belt, and a smile all laid out. Will this suffice, or is a tie necessary too?
This is simply my plan, but opinions are greatly appreciated. I want to dress for sucess but still be comfortable in what I'm wearing.

Unless you are interviewing for a job that will require you to wear a tie every day...I wouldn't wear one for the interview. I think what you have laid out sounds acceptable.

That sounds good. Here in Florida you can be even a little more casual with things like Dockers and a nice shirt and skip the dress pants. Forget the suit. Good luck!

How did your interview go?
BTW, as a hiring manager, I expect men to show up in a coat & tie. It shows me how much effort they are willing to expend to get the job. Altho in one case, it turned out to be the best way for the applicant to conceal all his colorful tats

We are in the exact same position right now and I will be wearing a suit and tie to every interview. With all the applicants they will be reviewing any way your can stand out from the pack will work in your to benefit. Good luck with the job hunt.
