Malcolm X Fall 2016 (CCCSON)

Published

Hey Everyone,

Long time lurker here!

I made a promise to myself. The only way that I will ever make an Allnurses account, is when I apply to nursing school. Well, that time has finally arrived, and I just finished submitting my application to the City Colleges of Chicago School of Nursing. I clicked on that submit button like a boss!

Good luck to everyone who applied.

Thank you so much I was worried I'm like omg I'm not going to be able to apply for the nursing program if u didn't complete the micro bio. What semester did you get certified as a Cna if you don't mind me asking. I'm new to the college world I took off a year after high school because I had a baby! So I'm 19 now hope to be finished with the whole associates by at least 21 if I stay dedicated

Like wheremykeys said if you have anymore questions come here we should have an answer

Thanks everyone appreciate it

I completed the BNA course this Spring & got my certification in late March/Early April. Its only an 8 weeks course. Studied for the TEAS for a good month and a half & did well enough to be able to apply before the deadline. The waiting, confusion, and unanswered questions are the worst part of it all.

Great! I was a little scared about that too I didn't want to get overwhelmed with the BNA plus studying for the TEAS. Did u complete it at Malcolm x? How often were classes

Yes, I completed it at Malcolm X. Originally I was going to go to Wright, but decided to go to Malcolm to get to know the staff and new building better. Since the ADN program will be at Malcolm, I thought I'd get used to the new school. I can't for the life of me remember my schedule. I took a few classes in the summer and I can't recall the semester prior. I know it was a lot for me, considering I work 2 jobs, but adjusted in a few weeks. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong, but I had evenings classes T-Th 5/6-9 & clinicals on Saturdays. 7-1/2pm. Clinicals weren't started till the 3rd week after lecture & you are required to complete 5. You'll need white scrubs for clinicals. They give you a lot of work in very little time, but pays off cuz the Illinois Board test was pretty easy.

FYI, you can always check this semesters schedule on the portal & get an idea of how things will be in Spring 2017. They might have switched things around, yet again.

Thanks ladies I think I've got this hopefully. I think I just got discouraged because I thought the program admissions were hard

Don't be discouraged. I think the hardest part is getting thru the program as opposed to getting into the program.

But I do warn you, I spoke to a few individuals before and after we took the TEAS & majority of them didn't score high enough to qualify. Even after their second & third attempt (you're only allowed two). So I wouldn't take the TEAS test lightly.

Or maybe the hardest part is passing the NCLEX.

I heard taking the practice test for TEAS is useful too

Did anyone receive their uniforms? I called & they still say 10-14 business days.
