Malcolm X College ADN Program - Fall 2025 Applicants: Let's Connect!

Updated:   Published

What Members Are Saying (AI-Generated Summary)

Members are discussing issues with enrolling in specific nursing courses, particularly N151, due to seats being closed and unavailable for registration. Some members are experiencing frustration with the enrollment process, while others are speculating about additional class options being added in the future. There is also confusion about the registration process and whether permission codes are required for enrollment.

Hi everyone!

I'm applying to the ADN program at Malcolm X College for Fall 2025, and I thought it would be helpful to start a thread to connect with other students who are applying as well. I'm currently working on completing my medical requirements through CastleBranch and preparing to take the ATI TEAS exam soon. I'd love to hear where everyone else is in the process and if you have any tips or advice to share. I've also been wondering what factors really help candidates stand out during the admissions process. For example, does having healthcare experience—like working as a CNA or medical assistant—make a big difference in how applications are evaluated? Or, does being bilingual help strengthen your application and increase your chances of getting in?

If you've already applied or been accepted in the past, it would be great to hear what you think helped your application stand out. For those of you who are still working on your requirements, feel free to share what you've completed so far and how you're preparing for the TEAS exam.

Let's use this thread to support each other and share insights as we work through the application process. I'm excited to hear from everyone and hope we can all navigate this journey together. Good luck to all future nurses applying for Fall 2025!

I just spoke with someone from advising and they said they don't issue permission numbers. This is so frustrating. I keep seeing the number of available seats for the class time I want be less each day 😞

They actually do that's how I was registered for class ... someone gave me a permission number and I don't recall what it was but he registered me thru advising

I was just told the same thing by an advisor! I do not like the run around and miscommunication between the departments. I feel like I should go up to the school. I may get a better result.

I'm thinking of going down there in person but I don't know if I should talk to advising or someone from registrars. 😕

I completely agree. The lack of communication between departments and with students has been dreadful. I met with advising on Thursday, and they admitted there's an internal communication issue they're trying to resolve. They told me to reach out to the nursing department, so I did, but that conversation was dismissive, accusatory, and just went in circles.

They seemed to have no knowledge of the issue or the registration process. They claimed the problem was that I didn't meet the requirements, which isn't true. I sent multiple screenshots clearly showing that I not only meet but exceed the requirements.

Eventually, I expressed that I didn't feel my email or the documentation I provided was being thoroughly reviewed. The responses I received seemed baseless and lacked any genuine effort to help resolve the issue.

At this point, I'm confident that once the coding issue is fixed, I'll be able to register but this whole process has been incredibly frustrating.

My best advice is to be persistent. Good luck 🍀

Everything you said is true! This should not be our experience and we haven't even stepped foot into the doors yet! No one should be dismissive or avoidant about any questions or concerns we have. Thanks again and good luck to you as well.

Have any RN students been able to enroll in 101? I know we were waiting on the fix.

Advising

Hey everyone! Anyone who is doing the PN program able to register for classes?  I have been attempting to, but it says I need a permission code. I tried calling advising, but don't pick up the line. I keep checking and notice people have been able to register. Any advice?

Hi. I just came from off campus. I was told that if we don't have a permission code by June 4th, to come in and speak back with an advisor or use the virtual services to see what's going on 🙄

Thank you, @lavagirl45 ! I wonder why it is taking so long though and howcome some students have been able to register versus others. Hopefully we get a code soon. I'll keep everyone posted

Yes that's what I'm thinking. How is there a glitch for certain students? But it is what it is. We'll be fine and ready in time for the start of the fall semester.

I just received this email from advising. They paused the nursing registration, and it will resume June 4th.
