Malcolm X -City Colleges of Chicago School of Nursing Fall 2023

Published

Hey everyone, just starting a topic for people to discuss City Colleges of Chicago Nursing application process for fall 2023. I've had all my documents marked as complete for weeks now, status on my application just updated to "viable candidate". Anyone else hear anything? They haven't had very many info sessions this semester. Anyone know why?

Goodmorning, I just received an acceptance to the practical nursing program. If anyone has applied check your portal.

Congratulations on your acceptance. I applied for PN but haven't been marked viable and not getting emails responded to. At this lobby I think it's a no just based off that. I'll probably apply again for next Spring semester.

Thank you! Have you tried calling them?

I'm not sure who to call or what number. I always just send an email.

(312) 850-7159 this is the number to the nursing department. You could also just go down there. The office is on the third floor, just turn right after you get off the main elevators and the office is right there.

Thank you. I'm about to call now and if no answer I'll go up there maybe tomorrow or Monday.

I just called and they answered on the first ring and just said that they are still reviewing more applicants. I'm gonna call back again because I want more details about my specific application. Do you think they will look into specific applicants?

You can also try calling --------------------------. She's an LPN clinical coordinator. I always try calling the nursing department line but they never answer. You might have a better chance calling her.

Thank you. I'll give her a call as well.

Does anyone know why there are more seats offered for the lecture part than the laboratory?

There are only three total lecture sections for 101, you'll have people in your lecture that aren't part of your clinical/lab group.

Hey guys, I received a response from Ms. Holloway and she told me that my GPA is only a 2.26 which falls below the minimum requirement for the PN program. This is why I had to write a concession letter. My portal shows 2.6 GPA though. If I would have knew it was only 2.26 I wouldn't have applied and kept working on raising it first. Do you know if they go by a different system when they calculate GPA? Because I don't understand how it's so different from the one on my portal.

Edit: I forgot they do look at your science course GPA. It could be that your science based GPA isn't good.

Could be weighted versus unweighted GPA. That would be my guess.

What prereqs did you struggle with? I take great notes and maybe I could help you out if you are going to retake any of them.
