Hey everyone, just starting a topic for people to discuss City Colleges of Chicago Nursing application process for fall 2023. I've had all my documents marked as complete for weeks now, status on my application just updated to "viable candidate". Anyone else hear anything? They haven't had very many info sessions this semester. Anyone know why?

They've got to check off everyone who turned stuff in throught last Friday and then check everyone against the student loan database (apparently you can't be in the program if you're in default on a previous loan) and against another database that checks to see if you submitted transcripts from all the previous schools you attended. You'd think they would have done that already, but a lot of stuff over there doesn't make sense.
Does Viable candidate mean that they've already checked everything out

Also, if you do have loans in default, you can get them out immediately without making any payments and be qualified for new student aid. All you have to do is call and ask to be put in the "Fresh Start" program and they email you a letter saying you're out of default. That program expires soon, though.

I do not have student loans in default. However, someone else may. The increasing speculation on this thread doesn't appear to be helping anyone's anxiety (which I thought was the main goal). I think all the assumptions and hearsay only accumulate prospective student stress. Everyone needs to just buckle up and wait for a response.

Well if someone does have loans in default and they can get them cleared tomorrow and not put their spot in jeopardy, then that's probably information they should have. Keep being a sanctimonious jerk, though, I'm sure that will win people over.
@GreyHairedRNStudent thank k you for finding out the information and sharing it with us. It was well needed. At least we know what the hold up is.
@GreyHairedRNStudent Thank you for sharing whatever you know in regards to the program and providing us with important information!

They need to get it together, I'm not sure why they wouldn't go ahead and offer to the candidates who didn't have special requirements and got their documents in on time, then pull out of the second pool.
