Hi all!
I was wondering if anyone has registered to take their HESI in the fall and are planning to apply to Macomb's nursing program for the 2013 admission cycle!?
Let me know!
@Winterbebe I would have thought it'd be the opposite, honestly. From what I've gathered nursing programs are the crown jewel of community colleges, so I would think they'd want those with the highest scores to get in/stay in/graduate being as they'd seem most likely to succeed (on paper), so I'd think they'd send nursing acceptance letters out first as to not lose applicants with higher scores to other programs. But, I'm probably wrong, ha.
@Bayliedynell, so we can skip waiting and just go in tomorrow (assuming ranking is finished) and get our letter printed instead of waiting for it to come in the mail Wednesday?
I was not thinking about it that way with wanting the highest scores. I have noticed a trend in Macomb adding the class intro to nursing and having teachers say how hard the profession is and many give worst case scenarios about what happens in the field and I was told by some teachers that these are ways of weeding students out of the program that would end up not staying in the field.
I will meet for drinks, it would be nice to meet you all!!!
And this is probably a silly question but when they say the last person admitted had a 3.4 and 88 hesi, is that the last person admitted BEFORE the people off the wait list got in or was that the dead last person who made it in from the wait list?
I'm waiting for mine too.. I might call tomorrow just to see if they sent the letters..
@winterbebe7 my intro to nursing professor said the same thing to our class, that they're trying to weed people out... My guess would be that that's the last person admitted before they started taking alternates, but I could be wrong...
Part of the problem with the ranking (which I wasn't aware of until recently) is that the same two people do the ranking for all of the selective admissions programs at Macomb. So there are only two people entering in all of the info, sending out the first round of letters, dealing with any discrepancies and then doing the ranking. I would imagine that's why the letters for acceptance into the different programs are staggered.
Although, given that, I'm not sure why they all have the same due date. Wouldn't it be less stress for the ladies doing the ranking (& the people in the enrollment office for that matter) and the students if they staggered those instead?

a.carolina, I ended up with a B+ in General Micro and B in A&P. I have an A in ENG and A in the intro to Nursing class so my plan is to retake A&P this spring/summer and Ashley Hayes, I did take the professor you recommended. I have been told by a lot of people she is great. I am not counting myself out just because my scores are slightly lower than the bottom of what was accepted last year!
