Macomb Community College - 2012 HESI

Well, another year means another time for more score updates. I am getting ready to take my HESI in a couple weeks to apply for the 2012 Nursing Program and I must say I am really beginning to get nervous! Thanks to their recent addition of HHSC-1040 (right before I was apply ) I am just curious how everyone did, and what was it like this year? I have no clue what to expect and I have been searching forever. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am really not worried about the Math or Grammar sections. I'm more worried about the Vocabulary, Reading, and A&P section that they added. Any advice would be great. I already have the Evolve HESI book that I have been reviewing from for the past couple of months. I'm still just really nervous.

I don't have a HESI score yet, but my GPA to apply for the program is: 3.925.

Again, any advice would be grand!

All I used to review for the HESI was the Evolve HESI book, and I thought it was plenty. However, I had finished A&P just 2 weeks before the exam, and am kind of a math rockstar.

Although the outcome couldn't have been any better, my worst enemy was my nerves! I'm sure I could have scored another point or two if I would have stayed a little more chill during the exam. Try not to let that happen to you!! They give you plenty of time to take the exam. IMO, way more than needed. Take your time. Take breaks as allowed. You'll be fine. 3.925 GPA is a great place to be going into the HESI. I have no doubt you'll make it in.

They added the Intro to Nursing course so that people would have a better idea of what kind of career nursing really is, before spending all the time and money of starting the program. Believe it or not, prior to adding the course, there were people that got through all the pre-reqs, got into the program, started their courses, only to *then* realize that they are going to have to actually physically touch people, help clean up after them when they are incontinent, etc... Macomb really has done a number of people a favor by adding that course.

I'm in favor of programs changing/evolving as often as necessary to keep things competitive so that only the people that have the strongest desire to be a nurse and have the brains to do it well, will be admitted.

That is great! I take it the 10th! It has been a year since a and p, but I had micro path in the winter. I am just curious do you think it is more beneficial to review the body systems as a whole or to review like exam notes? I am trying to do the notes and I feel like it might be too in depth, because I have done the HESI practice book. Any minor hint would be greatly appreciated. I am so very excited but so nervous Lol. Trying to make sure my nerves don't get the best of me.

Find a balance between reviewing/studying as in depth as you can, without sacrificing your sanity. Finding that balance will be your key to nursing school success.

For me, I just knew I wanted to become a nurse. I did my research and found that Macomb was the best way for me to do that. It's a competitive, accredited, well-respected, low-cost program that doesn't put people on waiting lists. I couldn't have asked for a better program to fit my needs. I truly hope you are able to find the program that fits yours.

Did you take your test today? How'd you do?? I take mine soon too and am anxious to start hearing everyone's scores. :)

Okay so here is the update, I can't figure out how to edit my previous post.

Does anyone know how to check their placement for program? Maybe like a seat or anything like that? Thanks.

If everything is the same as last year, you wont know anything really until they send out acceptance letters.

The deadline for applications isn't until Feb 15, then it takes up to 3 months for the selective admissions dept to do the rankings. Then they can send out acceptance letters.

They sent ours out around mid-April. Once we had our letters, we could take the letter into the admissions office and they would give you your rank there, if you want it.

According to last year, the last five that got in had a Hesi score of 83.8 and a GPA of 3.89..

however this year the student MUST have the intro to nursing done before they can apply.

further more each person I spoke with that took the Hesi already

has said that barely any people showed up to take the Hesi exam.

only about 400 registered for the exam I heard.. I know in my section we had only 10 students, plus they

even cancelled a section.. hopefully this year will be easier to get in then last year..

There were maybe 10 people in my Hesi group as well.

If you think about it, only a certain # of sections of Intro to Nursing courses were offered which could be completed in time for the Feb. 2015 deadline, so pretty much only the people who were able to get into that class or took it before can apply this round.

I'm hoping that it will work out to my advantage this admissions round.
