I'm trying to get into the Macomb Community College Nursing program. I just took the HESI test and scored a 86.5%. I Also have a 4.0 GPA. What are my chances into getting into the program for 2011, since my HESI is still kind of low?
If anyone can relate please comment. Post scores so we can compare! Thanks for your thoughts:)
Hi everyone. Just wanted to post in case anyone was curious that I went to one the Nursing Selective Admissions seminars and the counselor said that out of this groups averages, the bottom five had and 83.8 on their HESI but a 3.89 GPA! Great job everyone, I'm praying I get to be in your positions the next round :)

WOW that GPA is getting pretty close to a 4.0! Last year was 88 HESI & 3.58 GPA for the bottom 5 composite.
How are your pre-reqs coming along?

I know I was blown away when he said that! I was worried because I had B's in A&P and Micro and that definitely confirmed for me that I have to retake A&P and shoot for an A or I will have no chance.
I'm done with all my pre-reqs except for the Intro to Nursing class which I plan to take in the fall along with A&P again. I figure if I get an A in those 2 classes I can bring my GPA back up to a 3.79 and if I rock the HESI I will feel more confident but right now it's very discouraging thinking you need a 4.0...I'm an 'older' student and married with 2 young kids so I don't really have the time to be reapplying every year and retaking all these classes, but I know nursing is what I really want to do so hopefully it will work out.

Yeah, I would definately retake A&P and shoot for a higher grade. Keep in mind that every year is different, and anything can happen!
By the way, you didn't mention anything about English. You need either Engl 1180 or Engl 1210 for ranking purposes too. Hopefully you took that already and just didn't mention it?
Anyway, good luck to you!

Thanks! Yes, I got an A in ENG118, that's the only class I don't have to worry about.

I was not able to access the website (through Angel) for the Macomb SNA until I actually started the program.
Also, wanted to share some info....
The St. Clair County Health Dept. has great prices on titers and you do not have to reside in the county.
