I just finished taking the HESI at Macomb Community College today and got a 91.02. (Not very happy about it) My GPA for all the required prerequisites is a 3.58. With all of the admission changes for 2010, I'm not sure where I stand. I'm assuming the accepted GPA's and HESI scores will be lower than years past. What does everybody think? Do I stand a chance? Please share your GPA on the required courses and your HESI score. Thanks.....
Hi all,
I was wondering if someone could help me. I am applying to the nursing program at MCC for 2011. I have all prereqs done. A&P 1- A A&P 2-B Micro-A English-A. I havent taken the HESI yet, I was just wondering if this one B is going to totally kill my chances of getting in the program. Also, I would like to know if the HESI is hard or not. Im am totally terrified that Im not going to get in.. Please help lol....Thanks so much for any advice you can give...
I don't know about the B. I would say you'd probably still be OK as long as you rock the HESI. By rock, I mean I'm guessing a 94+. Completely guessing here though. I would suggest you call the counseling office and ask their opinion. They could probably give you the GPA cutoff from last year, as well as the HESI range that was accepted. That should give you some sort of guideline. Are you applying to any other schools? OCC? WCCCD? Henry Ford? I don't know the requirements of those schools, but they do have a waitlist (except for OCC). I wouldn't stress too much, just do your best :-).
Hi all - I was 151 out of the 159 that were accepted for Fall 2010. I had an A in A&P, A- in English and B+ in Micro, with an 89 point something on the HESI. We only had 400 or so applicants this time around, so I if we had had any more with higher scores, obviously I wouldn't have made it. My friend had the same grades as I did, and got an 84 on her HESI and she was #201 (they stop the alternate list at 200, she was so bummed). I wouldn't necessarily say the B will kill you, but it depends on your HESI and your competition.
The HESI isn't HARD, but you definitely need to review your A&P and math. Also, the reading comprehension section was what I did terrible in the 2 times I've taken the HESI. Get the study guide, and whatever is in it is pretty much a good indicator of how the test will be. Hope this helps.
To answer your question Jazz... Im not going to apply anywhere else bc all the schools requirements are so different and if I have to take more classes like chem, then I will miss their deadlines and I dont want to have to wait unitl 2012 to apply. Also about the hesi reading comp in the other post. Dont feel bad, I bought the study guide and did the sample reading and a lot of it makes no sense. It is probably the hardest part of the whole test. Congrats on getting in and keep in touch. I may need advice considering Im going in right after you. lol..... GOOD LUCK :)
They do have a calculator on-screen. I tried to do the math on paper though, and a calculator as a check. They don't let you go back on any questions, so you have to make sure you have the answer you intend because you can't go back and change anything once you move on to the next question. If you've taken the math-proficiency test at any school, it really is pretty much the same. Fractions, decimals, etc. I got 100% on the math portion of the HESI last year. I agree with the others, the reading was the most challenging. Good luck! :-) I'll be taking the HESI on Nov. 20th.

So, when would we graduate? Would it be the Spring of 2012?
