I would like to know the opinion of you guys . I'm in my first semester of the vocational nurse and I'm having too bad experiences. Our teacher was teaching about injections, and last class she came with a plastic bag full of non-sterile injections and she wanted us to practice on oranges. I said I would not use injections/ needles that were not sterile, and she said it is not a problem since the injections had been used among students and on oranges, but I refused and now she is picking on me.
And that's just the beginning of many bad things going on in this school!
Wow -- $26k for an LVN program????? And the instructors are this rude and unprofessional on top of that???? Why is anyone willing to put up with that? Why haven't they already gone out of business?
They don't go out of business because there is alway a market for people who want to do things the quickest way possible. People who don't want to take the pre-reqs or meet the educational standards of a community college or to actually have to compete for a spot in a program.
I think the proliferation of private, for profit schools are a big factor in why LPNs/LVNs are being ingreasinly excluded from some areas of nursing.

$26,000 is actually quite a deal for a private trade school LVN program in California. Some of the business schools are charging more than $30,000 in yearly tuition. The sad part is the fact that a good number of these students will be unemployed upon graduation due to the overly saturated local job markets, and the ones who do find jobs are faced with repaying a massive loan at $500+ monthly with very modest wages.

If at all possible, try to find an LVN program at a community college or at an adult vocational program. These programs are very reasonable in cost and generally offer a higher degree of professionalism in their instruction.
