LVN-RN in Sacramento

I'm probably moving up to Northern Cali in a month or so. Does anyone know of any good programs in the Sacramento area?

I am considering some myself. I have heard of 2. Western Career College LVN- RN associates ( non transferrable) , and University of Pheonix LVN - RN bachelors. I've recently requested info from both and not recieved it yet. I've heard from people about to be starting both but not enough info I want. I really just need to meet with their counselors. I'm leaning toward Univ of Pheonix but would really love to hear from someone already in the program. It is like 4 yrs I've heard and a lot of life happens during that time. good luck!

I graduated Oct 17th from Western Career Colleges LVN to RN bridge program. It was $35000 and 8 months long. I received a quality education. The cos is very high, however if you factor in the time savings of not having to wait to get in to public school, it seems like it will pay off in the end. By the way, I took my boards Oct. 23rd and found out on the 27th that I am now an RN. Mary Langley is the admissions rep that I would reccommend. Good luck with what ever you decide.

I heard that some employers wont hire from WCC. Do you know if it is true? have you had any trouble with that?

Hi mandajane4,

So, did you end up going to Carrington College? If so, how is it so far? I'd like to hear from you. I'm suppose to start in Feb but I think I'm going to give it another wait for the Lvn-Rn bridge program at MJC or Delta

I ended up waiting so I could appy at MJC again too. If I dont get in to MJC next semester I am going to start carrington in october 2011. Did you get in anywhere?

warning about university of phoenix (uopx),

i am in my last 6 months of the uopx lvn-bsn bridge program. a couple of things that you need to know if you want to use this program;

1. while the "main" campus is in sacramento the school you will need to drive to for each class is in salida, which is about 75 miles, south off of hwy 99.

2. the uopx raises their tuition and fees every year in july without ever missing a year.

3. they will tell you that you won't ever need to buy a book, this is a flat out lie.

4. if your pre-requisites are older than 5 years, they will not take them.

5. it will take you 3-5 years to finish the program once you start.

6. there are switching to agi testing as of this month for new classes.

now for the good news, some of the instructors are top notch, others have no idea what they are talking about. i cannot wait to be done, and move on to the rn role.
