hello fellow nurses, i am a new lvn :nurse: awaiting my licence to arrive in the mail. i have 2 questions. what are good facilities to work in and what is the current pay, a rough figure will be enough. im asking because close to the graduation date i was offered employment, went through the drug screen and all the necessary paperwork. after i recieved my gvn licence i was told that i would start of at 8.75 and after i get my licence it would be bumped to 12.75, my jaw almost hit the ground. not that money is a big issue but i thought lvn starting pay was around 16-18 bucks. i just dont see working for 12.75, please any response will be helpfull. God bless:redpinkhe

Hi I dont know the base pay for lvn's but my sister is a lvn at memorial hermann and she gets paid $20 but she's been a lvn for 6yrs. i dont know how much they pay for graduate nurses. I know good places to work would be memorial hermann, TCH, St. Lukes, and Methodist they all have good benefits. Also if you dont mind me asking where did you graduate from? Im currently going to HCC for the LVN program Im going to apply for the program in the spring was the LVN program hard thanks so much

thanx 4 the reply. i graduated from san jac north. the program wasnt hard at all, it just takes a toll on your body. if you are used to staying in class from 7 till 5 then youll probably do very fine. the issue is the assignement, travel time, n need for sleep. i used to wake up at 430 to 5 and went to sleep at around 11, 12. so sleep was only 4 to 5 hrs at the most.during a job fair at the school we had a couple of places that offered us employment but it seems they went back on their word especially for new grads. im just disappointed that they came to the job fair and practically just lied. i know it will be easier to find a job once my licence kicks in

ps: try san jacinto college north or south, they dont require pre requisites. i was in the waiting list for lonestar college 3 semesters in a row, i almost gave up. hope you get in the program coz we really need nurses:nurse:

any jobs for new lvns. graduated in august 20th and awaiting licence. im in houston, also please assist me in interview skills. thax in advance

Thanks so much for the advice thats sucks that they went back on their word. We need nurses and you would think that since you guys are grads. they would hire you on the spot thats crazy. Yeah when i first graduated from high school i went to lonestar-cyfair i was applying to their RN program and they had me on the wait list for 2 sems. so i decided to transfer to HCC & go for LVN. Its a difficult process I felt like giving up too but becoming a nurse is something tht I really want to do so im gonna hang in there. Im glad you told me about san jac im going to look up the application process. I hope the job hunt goes well good luck i'll keep my fingers crossed. You should apply at Kelsey Seybold they have alot of LVN job openings you just have to go to St. Luke's website to do it.

P.S.-I dont know which area your in but if your in the Northwest area of town you should try applying at North Cypress Hospital its off 290 I know theyre hiring LVNs as well. I was looking for CNA positions in hospitals and I ran across it.

:yeah:

hello again everyone, does anybody know of any places that are hiring lvn's in houston. im open to work at any place, i just graduated august 15th, have a licence and havent had an offer yet. im disappointed at the places that let new grads fill in the applications, 30 to 40 mins minimum. then tell you they are only looking for nurses with 18 plus months in experience. i mean you actually tell them you are a new graduate and rather than them tell you they are not interested, they'd rather you waste an hour filling an application befor telling you this. happened three times today and im just beat:banghead:. PLEASE IF ANYONE KNOWS A PLACE THAT IS HIRING NEW GRADS, LET ME KNOW. THANKS IN ADVANCE. GOODNIGHT/DAY

just went to cypress, 2 yrs exprience needed ouch:crying2::crying2: but at least i have a licence now, im an lvn woohooo

CONGRATS!! Ok I went to an interview at md anderson today & H.R told me they have a LVN position that just opened so you might want to try there & I don't think you need to have certain amount of experience either good luck
