LVN Baptist School of Health Professions Spring2012!?

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Just wondering if there are any applicants starting LVN program with Baptist Health System in San Antonio for Spring 2012?!?!

Very good for you for starting young!! And yes, doing what you enjoy is much more important! :)

I got my acceptance email Oct.8th.. and we had to respond to accept the spot by the 17th.. and my processing day is Friday.. when will you know if you accepted?!

Well the deadline for St. Philips is Nov 10. I'm not sure if they'll let me know before then or wait until the deadlines to let everyone know. They said they want to let everyone know by the end of November. hopefully they'll let us know before that. wow I'm so happy for you. Can't wait until I get my acceptance letter etc. What exactly is processing? i've seen that a few times

Processing is turning all your paper work, like hs diploma, copies of drivers license, paying matriculation fee of $300?!?! And I believe meeting with financial aid.. basically closing the deal Haha. Well let me know when you get in so we can compare the 2 programs to help out other people decide which school to go to when they come on here! Haha :)

of course! and omg $300!???!!!! :dzed: wow i cannot believe that! they're already expensive then you have to pay a matriculation fee? Oh at SPC they require all those things before you even apply. lol. So when you meet with financial aid do you know how long it'll take for them to award you so if needed you can get outside resources? When does classes start for you? Jan 17?

I know... It is expensive! No, I have no idea how long it takes to get awarded.. so to save my "you know what" took a loan out at sac just to have that extra money saved on the side.. I start Jan.3rd... Lol..

So you take chemistry while in nursing school right? Oh my goodness... I'm taking chem now and I absolutely HATE it! It's so freakin hard! Sorry.. had to vent.. I'm doing homework as we speak.. lol

yea it is! oh ok. Classes start pretty early for you. I know I wont be able to work while in the lvn program so I wanted to take out a living exp loan for the next 6 months. I'm having it sent to st. philips but I'm afraid if the cost of attendance isn't calculated to show my need they will use my money for my bill. How did you take out a loan at sac? The loan i took out was an educational loan, so they verify with the school that i'm enrolled. Well for me since the lvn has no prereqs i don't take chem until after the program for the bsn. I'm so afraid to take it, so many people say it's hard. lol. it's ok, vent away. A friend of mine is taking chem and she hates it. lol. ooo lol, I have to take chem 1 and 2 for uthscsa

Are you sure? I think chem 1 is included in your lvn program.. lol. I'm taking it now to get it out of the way for RN.. Yep, chem 1 & 2 for uthsc... :( I just took out a regular unsub loan.. I requested it through financial aid. Its for this semester but I'm saving it in case i'll need it for Jan..

Yes they based it off cost of attendance because my degree plan is "pre-nursing".

Wow! I think you got lucky! I think the LVN program recently changed for st.Phillips because I've read on previous forums people needed to take chemistry while in the lvn program because it was a requirement for nutrition! That's great you don't have to! So even though your nutrition is only 1 credit hour do you still need to take it again for bsn or will this nutrition class transfer over? As well as the other bsn pre-reqs you'll be taking like a&p and lifespan?

Oh ok. Oh that is sooooooo awesome!!! :lol2: and what sucks is that none of the prereqs for the bsn transfer over from the lvn. so I have to take a&p, nutrition and lifespan over. I was thinking I should take the prereqs this spring so i wouldn't have to take them twice but time if of the essence. And if i don't go this spring I have to wait until fall instead finishing the program in the fall.

Oh wow, that does suck, I for sure thought those would transfer.. no, I say do lvn in spring so you can start making decent money and do those pre-reqs when your working...

Yea it does suck. I was hoping that they'd allow me to do the regular life span, nutrition, and a&p but it cant work out because life span and nutrition are only 8 weeks, and if I did the regular ones I'd be in credit overload. Yea that's just what I'm going to have to do. At least when I go to take the real courses I'll have some type of experience and background in the course.
