Lutheran school of nursing in st.louis mo

Published

I wanted to know if anybody attended the lutheran school of nursing in st.louis mo and could tell me a little about the school and the admissions process

I graduated from Lutheran last year in November. The admission process is relatively painless. If you haven't taken certain prerequisite classes, you can take them there (via Webster University professors). I took all of my prereq's there. (English, Psychology, Bio-ethics, Anatomy and Physiology I/II, etc.)

If you've already taken them, getting into the school itself isn't too bad. You can either take the entrance examination, or, utilize your ACT scores, if you have them. I just re-took the ACT. I'd call up and talk to admissions to get the full low-down though.

As for the actual program, it's challenging, but doable. I'm certain that your experience will differ from mine, as there are different professors in certain classes, and they're constantly revamping the program to make it more efficient and better. It's accelerated, so each semester is only 8 weeks long... Which means, expect an exam as least once a week.

The thing about nursing school is, they try their best to get your ready for the workforce, however, the majority of the program is built to ensure you pass the state licensure examination (NCLEX). You will have theory, and then you will have clinical, usually two days a week, 8 hours a day.

I know A LOT about pathophysiology thanks to lecture, however, I learned more in 3 months of actually working as a nurse than I did in 2 years of clinical training. It's just the way it goes.

If you've any other questions, I'll do my best to help. Good luck!

Where can I go to take the ACT again and does it cost

You don't need to take it again. Just take the entrance exam. It's free.

Can you take the prereqs along with the nursing courses or do you have to complete all prereqs before entering?

Thanks

You can take some of them concurrently. The ones that can be taking with nursing classes are lifespan development, abnormal psych, and bio 2.

Do you have to call and schedule an appointment for the entrance exams?
