They are currently screening for Basic Skills Training in LCP. Has anyone tried this? Would you guys recommend this? This is a 3-month training: 1 month lecture and 2 months practicum. It costs 6,000 pesos.
can anyone confirm this ..
a. basic skills trainees of lung center of the philippines were abused there by the nursing staff .... some said they were scolded or yelled infront of the students and patients ....
b. was the training worth it for 6.5k ???
c. do the trainees give meds, insert iv and etc in the practicum?
thank you
a. will this training give you an edge ?
b. when is the next BST schedule for 2011?
c. will you be included in the pool of nurses after the training?
d. can anyone confirm this >>> the nursing staff there were abusing the BST trainees some says they were scolded in front of patients and students etc
thank you
a. Yes, the training should give you an edge in terms of professional growth but one should also be assertive in his endeavor.
b. Heard this from NTO, February 2011. Application for it would start this November. If possible, one should inquire personally rather than do phone inquiries for a BST slot.
c. It depends. LCP did hire nurses that have undergone and "excelled" in BST. Excelled is a relative term because a trainee should excelled in the didactics as well as in "skills" --this include "pr skills." :)
d. Abuse is such a strong term. BUT there were instances that some staff nurses were more easily impatient to the inadeptness of nurse trainees. I think it goes with the different personalities among the staff nurses ---some are more tactful, accommodating, and mild-mannered than others.
Yes it is humiliating to be "scolded in front of patients and students" [& even unprofessional on the part of the nurse staff] but a trainee should also be "thick skinned" when a situation warrants it. A trainee could also perhaps tactfully verbalized his sentiments on such situation. I could just imagine the reaction of the staff nurse if you say, "Mam/sir, with all due respect, please stop scolding me in front of the patient/students...I already feel embarrassed of my inadeptness...I am here to train, please help me learn with my dignity intact." :)

Yes, in your first month, there will be a didactic lecture everyday, Mondays to Fridays only.
Unfortunately, I have just called them up earlier and the application for the batch of this year is already CLOSED.
Let's just wait for the schedule for Year 2011.
