Hello. I am applying for the Versant residency at Lucile Packard children's and wanted to start a thread for everyone. Wondering if they are mainly interested in candidates from the bay area that precepted at their facility?
I applied from out of state - Chicago, IL. I'm assuming that personal connections will help those of you that did clinicals/internships there, but does anyone know if they prefer nurses from the Bay Area or the state of California in general?
Also, do you know more about the RN licensing process in the state of California? It sounds like quite a mess. I am graduating in December and sent in my RN licensing application a few weeks ago. Is it realistic to think that I would have my RN license by the end of February?
Good luck to everyone!
I just completed the endorsement process, and am fortunate to live in the Bay Area, so I was able to drive to and from the Board of Nursing in Sacramento to drop off my paperwork, which I know definitely expedited my process. It still took me a little less than 2 months to receive my permanent license, but it's worth it!! My advice to anyone going through this process is to make the drive/flight to Sacramento and hand deliver it.
Sending your paperwork in early definitely helps with your initial application for your RN license! Kudos to you for being on the ball!
I also, applied to this new grad program! Good luck to everyone :)
Does anyone know when we will be hearing back?
According to the website, we will be hearing back between November 16th- November 20th if we will be scheduled for an interview.

Does anyone have any insight into how many people are accepted? I applied for L&D.
That I don't think we'll know for sure until people start getting called in for interviews and they disclose how many positions are actually available, unless someone from the inside shares with us beforehand. I guess it varies from cohort to cohort. In older LPCH Versant threads, the available positions were said to be somewhere in the ballpark of 16-25, with each different unit having a different number. The number of applicants is usually always very high.
