Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital New Grad RN Residency March 2021

Published

Hi all!

Lucile Packard just opened their next round of applications. Just wanted to start a thread to talk about it! This is my second time applying, and it was so helpful to have support from one another.

Are you applying/did you apply? What units are you most interested in?

I applied for PICU and Pedi Acute ?

Ugh that’s a bummer considering the manager was in my interview. I just wish they’d send out rejections already so I have a concrete answer.

It’s literally been exactly a month since interviews? I think it’s a little crazy we haven’t received a rejection email yet!

Yea it’s a little unprofessional that we haven’t heard anything IMO LOL. Oh well.

I assumed they're waiting for the hired folks to sign their offers, and then they'd send out rejections. But I'm not sure if the people hired have even gotten their official offers yet!

No formal contracts have been sent out yet from my understanding. Verbal offers have been given but nothing in writing, at least for me. I understand the frustration from all angles and I am so sorry that you guys have heard nothing at all since your first interview. Really hoping we all have answers soon!

To add I completely understand there being a delay or prioritizing getting offer letters signed. However, I do think we could’ve at least received some sort of update (even if they weren’t definitive answers) during the week of the 18th like we had been told during the interview. It sucks being left in the dark while trying to weigh other options and I don’t want to come off like I feel entitled to preferential treatment or anything.

PSA: today is the final day of interviews so we should all be hearing from HR shortly!

The units that are currently represented in the FB group (those that have posted) are Hem/Onc (inpatient and float), PICU and CVICU (not critical care float) so technically four units! Nothing from others yet!

Update on the FB group: we’ve had one person from NICU introduce themselves so that makes 5 units represented so far! Others have joined the group but not yet introduced themselves so I’ll update again once more do! Been thinking about you all and want to send positive, peaceful vibes your way no matter where you start your nursing journeys. Y’all are gonna be difference makers! ??

Hi! Can anyone give me their input on how the second interview was for you? I would really appreciate it! As well as what unit it was for! TIA

Hey! I'm sharing because I would have loved if someone shared their experience with me. I had a second interview with PCU 400. It really was a get to know you interview, it was the nicest, most welcoming interview I was ever part of. I really loved the unit (precepted there before) and this interview further cemented that. However, they are only hiring one person. I will stay hopeful, they said we would hear by Fri Feb 12th. The lucky winner will get a call, and HR will reach out to the others. Hope this helps. Which unit are you interviewing for? ?

As mentioned previously, my second interview was with the ICN. Honestly, I kinda found my second interview more formal and strict. During my first interview, everyone was nice, bubbly, and laughing. During my second, they were more stern. I don't think we vibed as much which is why I think I didn't get the job. They asked me plenty of behavioral questions during the second interview which I didn't expect. Also, only one person from my first interview was at the second interview!

Hi, I was wondering if anyone from the Acute care units heard back today? *anxiously waiting*
