Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital New Grad RN Residency March 2020

Nurses New Nurse

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to start a thread for Stanford LPCH’s new RN residency for Spring 2020. Application opened Oct 1 and closes Nov 1.

I personally haven’t submitted mine yet, but wondering what units you are applying to. Also, if you don’t mind sharing any info about yourself or what you feel may help your app stand out (i.e. peds preceptorship, went to school in bay area) I’d appreciate it!

Hi! Thank you for starting this thread.

I applied to neonatal and intermediate care nursery. I currently go to school in Los Angeles. As far as my resume goes, I have a strong GPA, completed my preceptorship in a NICU, and have a lot of volunteer work. We will see what happens but I am super excited! :)

When you uploaded your resume to the site, did it automatically pull your clinical experience in as "work experience"? And if so, did you leave it in or delete it? I feel like this system is not designed with this new grad program in mind.

It did, but I deleted it. I think it's definitely a general application for the hospital but is just a required document for this program as well.

Are you finding that you cannot add in your licenses and certifications via the online application? I know these applications are scored and I don't want to lose points.

I was wondering the same thing. Right now my certs are just on my resume, but wondering we need to upload the actual certification/license.

Hi everyone! I'm planning on applying this week but was wondering if anyone knows if the program is set on us having our license by the date posted on the app 02/14/20 even though the cohort doesn't start until 03/23/20.

My graduation date isn't until Mid-December and I'm worried I wont be able to take my NCLEX until mid-Feb which might be after that date they're requesting.

I appreciate any info!

Specializes in med-surg.

I actually emailed Danielle about this and she wrote back "We do not require our Residents to have their NCLEX results until mid to end of February." I graduate December too so I was wondering same thing

Awesome! Thank you so much that’s good to hear.

Hi Fellow Applicants,

I submitted my application and got a confirmation of receipt that asked me to be patient with next steps. I thought I would hear from them soon about uploading my cover letter, transcript, and letters of reference, but haven't heard anything about that. I'm concerned because the deadline is fast approaching! Did you all get the confirmation email, and then have you heard anything since?

I actually applied last go round and got a first interview but not a second. Last time, we uploaded everything together. I wrote Danielle and asked her if we would be hearing about uploading the rest soon, but haven't heard back from her. Have you been able to upload cover letter, references, and transcripts?

I'd really appreciate hearing before I send another email to Danielle. Thank you!

Hi! I submitted my application today as well! To upload your references, transcripts, and cover letter go to this website:

http://applyjobs.lpch.org

Login and click "My Job Applications" - you will see your submission and then have an option underneath to upload select files. I think they just become attached to your profile if that makes sense? Hope this helps and good luck everyone!

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I will do it tonight! Whew.

I can let everyone know my experience from my first interview, as long as I'm not breaking any rules in doing so! The main thing I remember being surprised about is that all four of us who went into the interview together had all done our preceptorship in Peds, and had all worked as nannies at some point in our life. So if you're wondering if you should include this in your resume, do.
