I am very excited to see this post. I believe not many people are using, know about it or believe in it. My Providers wont use it yet. I think they will as more in my area start to. Its a shame I have to wait for it as those who use it that I have spoken with have found such huge success and are reducing their antipsychotic % in "droves". It is much safer and does not fall into this category so your QM's are better to! BUT, the most important thing is the quality of life for the patient. Irks me that I can't be on the cusp of this and have some residents experiencing the benefits now.

We have one resident on it. I've always known him for crying constantly. I don't know what he was like before he was on it, but recently my friend who was put in charge of that unit noticed he was on the highest dose of his Exelon patch and she had an epiphany and got the dose lowered on him. His behaviors decreased SIGNIFICANTLY. He didn't shed a tear today and I just about died! Not sure if this is used a lot either. D:

One resident was put on it....she died. OKAY she was in her late 80's with multiple comorbidities, but now no one else wants to suggest it.

Looking it up, it seems pretty limited... many caveats associated with this drug are issues which affect the LTC resident class.

We have one resident that is using it as she did not have a good experience with increasing her Seroquel. She seems to be doing ok without any a/r
