LSU Spring 2018 BSN

Published

Hi there! Im sure it's alittle early, seeing as the semester's not quite over, but I was wondering if there was anyone else out there applying to LSU SON Spring 2018 traditional BSN? I figured I'd start up a topic so we could have somewhere to network and help each other out. Has anyone else already taken the HESI? Or previously applied? I've already taken the HESI and scored pretty well but I'm so nervous and worried it still won't be enough since LSU is super competitive and this will be my first time applying to any nursing school. Does anyone know what the average scores/GPA that was accepted the past couple of entering classes? Any advice would be super helpful! Thanks!

I've been following this forum without an account, but I just made an account so I can comment. I finished my interview this afternoon. It took me a while to do because I wanted my answers to be perfect. I feel alright about it. I think I did well, but I'm still nervous!!

what were the questions?

If anyone is willing to share, what did you choose as the core value that you implement in your life? I chose professionalism, but I'm just really unsure of my answer. I'm curious to see what other people chose.

I finished mine! I really don't like listening to my own voice recorded, so that was kinda weird, but I feel like I did well. I tried not to overthink the questions. Of course I did, though. Haha.

I chose excellence. I'm glad you asked, I think it's interesting to see what everyone else chose. :)

I think these two events, the interview and the essay, are the real tipping points in the admissions process. Because of the baseline criteria I think most applicants are in the same range in GPA and HESI. It seems like this is where people step out or step back.

I agree. I know during the info session I attended, they said are really looking for well-rounded students. Even though someone has a perfect GPA and awesome HESI score, if they really flop on either the essay or interview, that's how they decide who to cut. They would rather someone who does really good on all four things, instead of perfect on a couple factors and okay-ish or bad on the others.

I chose Caring!! I'm surprised more people didn't choose that one!

I almost chose that one! Honestly, I doubt it matters what you picked just as long as you explained it properly. I'm still nervous though. I can't believe we have to wait nearly 2 months before we know anything!

yeah, I don't think it matters either! I know, I was so nervous yesterday! Even after I sent it in. I feel a lot better now. Haha! I think we should know around the beginning of October if we were accepted. Which seems like a long time, but it will probably go by fast. Now, I'm thinking about the essay question!!

The info session made it sound like mid to late October. Ugh.

Did my interview yesterday too! nervous about essay too. saw some of the older conversations and they said the essay part was easy bc it was a general topic, that they just want to make sure you know how to write well. Wanted to see if anyone else has heard anything or had advice to prepare?

They gave out the essay topic at the info sessions. When I get home tommorow I'll find the handout.
