Fall 2013 LSU program...anyone else out there?!

That's a great question to ask! I'm a Soph II right now... You definitely need to start the semester knowing that you're going to have to bust your butt to make it through. Find what works for you... Understand that you'll be living on little sleep and lots of coffee. It's worth it and completely doable!! For physiology specifically - DO THE WORK. He tells you to read and outline the textbook. DO IT! Lots of people don't because it's A LOT of reading. Read every single sentence, every diagram, every chart, outline them, and STUDY them. Know the material front and back and make sure you can teach it to someone else. Study groups are EXTREMELY helpful. Some friends and I would go to a study room in the library and use the expo boards to teach each other the material. You don't truly know it until you can teach it to someone else! Also, go get a recorder and record his lectures. Re-listen to them, take notes again, and make sure you understand the lecture. I would spend up to 8 hours re-listening to a 2 hour lecture. Physiology is tough, but it's definitely doable if you make yourself do the difficult work it requires. You just can't slack off!

Good luck to everyone who was accepted! If anyone is interested, I've got all my textbooks, notes, flashcards, etc. from Soph I semester that I'm looking to get rid of for cheap! We can meet somewhere on campus later on in the summer. And to everyone who was waitlisted, don't give up hope! The semester I applied, the ENTIRE waitlist ended up getting in. People were still getting accepted the day before our orientation. Don't give up!

Congrats, everyone!

I know this is a really vague question, but what did you do differently from others that you thought helped you succeed? I know there are plenty 'weed out' classes and some very difficult classes, but what techniques, habits, etc (even class specific) helped you get through? Obviously study, and be in a position to put school first, but how much time did/do you spend studying? Any techniques or school resources that really helped? Thanks!

Congrats, everyone!

How many people were on the wait list for the entire list to get in?? Is there a way to find out where on the wait list a person is??

Congratulations to everyone who got accepted for the Fall 2013. For those of you who got wait listed, do not loose hope. I just finished my first Soph I semester, and I had applied the first time and didnt get in. The second time i got wait listed, and i got accepted the day before orientation. Just don't give up. If you dont get in the first time, try again if it is something that you have your heart set on. And like my fellow classmates have said, It is not easy. despite the fact that you will want to pull your hair out and cry sometimes,, I can honestly say i enjoyed my first semester. It was a rocky road but I learned a lot and met an awesome group of people. Goodluck to all, and the 3 years will be over in no time! ;)

Ok so checked my mail today. A letter from LSU confirming I'm on the alternate list and stating that all the spots for Fall 2013 have been filled. Is it ok to throw in the towel and start on a new application? Just don't want to spend my summer stalking my phone. Wish this would have came in the mail after tomorrow kinda going into my birthday feeling defeated. Won't let it get me down though. Hope everyone is having an awesome summer so far!

I got the same letter :(

Is anyone else confused about dates for orientation? And I've heard talk of advising meetings... I don't have one set up nor have I spoken to anyone about it but last year's incomers were getting advised by this time last year. And when will we be able to see our financial aid online? Anyone else confused as well? Calling seems useless- annoyed people that don't want to and mostly can't help you anyways.

I actually called the Assistant Dean a couple of days ago just asking questions and she said a lot of people have been confused with things lately. They plan on mailing us a letter either this week or next week to explain lots of things.

Hope this helps!

Hey! I can't find the LSU SON Class of 2016 facebookgroup; can anyone assist me in trying to find it?

I'm having some trouble finding the Facebook group also, any help with that would be appreciated! Looking forward to meeting y'all at orientation! :)

search for Class of May 2016... I wasn't able to find the one that was made already, so I made another. Its a closed group so that everything we post isn't displayed to the world, only to the members. There are only 2 of us right now but tell your friends who got accepted and it will grow! I'm actually a Soph II right now, but I'm slow tracking so I'll be joining yall in January.

Is there anyway you can pm the link to the group? I can't find the new group either. I believe since its closed, it isn't available to search
