Fall 2013 LSU program...anyone else out there?!
I feel so lost in this process! I keep having to call the school to ask a billion questions! Only my TOPS is viewable on the student self service website. My FAFSA grant is not. A woman I spoke to said they were still processing paperwork for the verification process from people who turned in their forms April 15...I turned mine in June 2. So it appears it will be a little while before I can see it in my account. :/ Also, I spoke with someone today who said an email will be sent out in a week or so with orientation details. As for the CPR thing, we can't do it because it is during our orientation. The lady I spoke to said we have to go else where on our own time. We also have to get a drug test, background check, and fingerprinting done...anyone have any idea where this can all be done?
It's all on the website under clinical requirements. You won't need any of it until you start clinicals in January except fingerprints bc you send those in with your lsbn application. They will tell you everything at orientation. Y'all are lucky, last semester our orientation was 2 days before classes started, at least you will have a week to catch your breath! The fingerprinting can be done at a place down the street from school. It's really fast and easy, a bunch of us went after level orientation and got it done together so we wouldn't get lost. Click on current students then requirements for all undergrad students for the stuff you'll need. Try not to stress! You will have plenty of stress in a couple weeks :)

I found the background check info. It's $60 on the certified background website that LSU provides a package code for. Do you recommend we use that website or is it cheaper elsewhere?
Yeah that's the one I got. It takes about 2-4 days to process and get your results. And LSBN is the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Hey ladies, I wanted to share all this info to help....
For CPR training, this is the link you can go to to search for the course available closest to you. Make sure when it asks that you search for the "BLS for Healthcare Providers Course."
Class Connector Search Home- American Heart Association
I'm actually gonna wait and do that closer to clinicals.
For fingerprinting, I believe the place close to school is called AKI Services, address 2532 Tulane Blvd #453-2372 . I plan on calling to ask them how much it costs and when I can go in.
For drug testing we can go to Quest Diagnostics. So the best thing to do for that is to go to their website, search for the one nearest you, call and make an appointment, and I believe they will send the results to LSU. Not sure on cost.
For a background check, go to certifiedbackground.com and in the "Place Order" box type in code: LS12 . From there it will show you all that the package includes and the $60. From there you can actually order and then I believe LSU receives the results.
This is the link for all our requirements btw >>>> http://nursing.lsuhsc.edu/Docs/Undergraduate%20Student%20Requirements.pdf
I think just to make my life easier, I'm gonna try to do the drug test, fingerprinting, and background check now before school starts to get it out the way. Hope all this info helps! :)

I got the email as well but I already got CPR certified in June through the American Heart Association. We do need to be certified before school starts. I have a friend who is a JR II and she says that they explain everything we need to do really well and spell everything out in black and white. Just a few more weeks!
