LSU CARE 2015

Published

I turned in my application on Jan. 15th so it is probably too early to hear back anything, but I wanted to start a thread anyway. This is my 2nd time applying to the CARE program (missed Statistics the first time). I think I have a pretty strong application (all A's and B's, good recommendations, 6 years working as a Patient Care Technician, etc) but I am worried about one thing: at the last nursing school I attended, I got kicked out for cheating. This was over 5 years ago and I obviously wasn't in the right frame of mind--I had recently gotten out of an abusive relationship and I was living in a state with no family or friends or connections. I also chose to work full-time and I didn't have a car. All of these things were obstacles when I was at the other program. I was about 2 weeks in before the incident. I sent in the the ineligibility letter and also a statement to explain what happened. I am hoping they will show some mercy for this past mistake.

Anyway, enough about me :) Has anyone heard anything? Good luck to everybody!

Keep that positive attitude, aamede3!!

I called them yesterday and was told by the secretary that she spoke to (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF THOSE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS) and was told that I'd have to attend the interview, or would lose my spot as I'd get no points for it. I asked if I'd be able to do a phone or web interview, but she never addressed the question. A little discouraged. It seems a little unrealistic to ask students to make arrangements like this on such short notice, and diesn't take into account that people work too.

Just got an email this morning asking for an interview. Whew. Hang in there. I think they are sending out the interview invites one by one.

Congrats! See, it is definitely too early to throw in the towel. Good luck to everyone applying. :)

I had my interview this week. Everyone is super friendly. I felt totally comfortable. I wonder when we will hear back. Anyone know when letters might go out?

The woman in charge of it told me that the committee meets the second week of March and that letters will go out then. She's going to send out an email with all of that info. The interview went great for me. I had them all laughing!

Had my interview a few days ago. They said that first round of acceptances go out March 20th, and then two weeks later in April alternates find out... Hope everyone hears good news!! Also I think they hinted at a second round of interviews, but I can't be sure.

I figured they would do a second round of interviews. It's been my understanding that they've done that in the past. The woman that signed me in/out said that she would send a confirmation email asking us to validate our addresses for when they sent letters out, but I never got one. Did anyone apply anywhere else? I applied to Southeastern's accelerated program in addition to LSU.

I know these might be premature questions because we haven't heard from them yet, but have any of you decided what to do for living situation in New Orleans? Are most of you from there already?

I live on the Northshore, so I'll be commuting there daily. I've heard that the dorms aren't bad, but then again, it is a dorm. I'm sure there are some decent apartments in the area. I finally got my acknowledgment email today. Thank goodness.

I live here at the Saulet apartment complex. It's 1.5 miles away from the campus I think. It's awesome!

Also premature, but I received the email confirming my address today too for the letter of "either acceptance or alternate position". Starting to think of living situations, and I think it would be helpful to live with someone in the program. If anyone needs a roommate, let me know, i swear I'm normal haha. :]
