LSU BSN

Published

Hi everybody,

Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.

Ok, thanks. I will prolly wait until class to purchase them. Do they post lecture notes online prior to class?

I was told that if you took a&p at another school you still have to take physiology? I guess it wouldn't be any harder if your not taking anatomy there as well?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you have to re-take Physiology--and not everybody can be exempted from Anatomy either from what I heard! I've taken both already and am prepared to re-take Physiology. It's supposed be the worst class out of the entire curriculum. I've heard nothing but horror stories about it. It'll suck if I have to retake the Anatomy too, but I certainly hope I don't have to.

Maybe we won't have to take anatomy, I also have to take abnormal psych, I hope it's not too bad

Everyone has to take LSU's physiology and, yes, it's probably the hardest class you'll take. I had already had A&P I and II and struggled. 2 years ago, they didn't take many of our anatomy credits, but it seems that's changed - a few people I know who took the same A&P I did but started at LSU a year later than I did got credit for anatomy. Just a year earlier, I wasn't given credit. Just make sure you talk to someone at advising about it. Things really seem to flip-flop when it comes to things like credit for outside classes.

Ab psych is easy and her lectures are long but entertaining. As long as you listen and read, you'll be fine.

Has anyone gotten their student id and login info yet?

If you don't mind me asking, what made physiology do hard to pass?

I am currently attending UNO and for me, I would have to take ap1 and 2 along with the labs to have credit for anatomy. I just finished ap1 without the lab this semester so of course I would be taking anatomy next semester along with Psys. I have many friends in the program and they have al told me that anatomy is pretty much memorization and that the cadavers help with studying. On the other hand, they have also told me thAt psys is the hardest class ever. They ended up passing the course but went into the final unsure if they would pass or not. I am terrified! I also heard, but may be wrong, that the same professor for psys is the same for pharmacology that we take the second semester. I have been told the class is not as bad so I think it's PHYS that is the issue.

And people told me to take ab psyc and et it out the way before u apply since you will need the extra time to study for phys! Thankfully, I am bout to take my ab psyc final now!

This is totally off the subject of LSU Nursing--I am moving to Covington next week and have a working interview with BlueBonnet Dental in Mandeville. Anybody know if they're good people to work with? I know for a fact the BR branch has a high turn over rate. I'm just reallllllly nervous about the transition because I'm from North Louisiana and am not used to the culture. I also have a twangy country accent but I tend to not let that get in the way lololol but still! I just want to succeed down here :) Any input is greatly appreciated.

I am sure you will do fine on the northshore. How did your interview go? I don't know anything about the dental office. I live on the northshore...maybe we can carpool sometimes!! and study together

Hahahhaha. Well, I had it today. Ummm, everything was fine until I passed out in the middle of a procedure. No worries though, I'm not pregnant, I ate a poptart and drank some juice and was fine after. But still, I've blacked out 3x this week--I just finished undergrad at LA Tech University this week, and it was the hardest thing I've ever been through in my life--so maybe all that extreme stress is the culprit of that. I still don't get it though--I've dental assisted before, and the past 2 years I've worked in an ER--nothing makes me queasy! I better stop all this fainting before nursing school! They're hoping to be able to hire me for just the summer--they seemed really nice and laid back about everything. 2BLSUNurse--I'd love to carpool, study, and make friends over here because the only people I know here are my boyfriend and his family--and I can't hang out with them 24/7! :clown:
