Hi everybody,
Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.
Hey guys! I just found this thread but I wish I had found it earlier to help with interview questions! Oh well! I hope we hear soon too; the website says within four weeks of admission examination but that didn't make any sense to me because I took the HESI way before I interviewed.
Do people who interviewed in February have a better admission chance than people who interviewed in March, or does it not matter?
Is anyone else from out of state? I also read that they rarely take out of state students but I am trying not to get discouraged!

It doesn't matter. Everyone had the same application due date. It was merely a matter of interviewer availability. Not sure what order they contacted people in but not all student interviewers were availble in February and it's required to do incoming student interviews to pass management.
As for out of state, I wouldn't worry about that at all. If you're qualified, you're qualified. People pass rumors that they favor people from LSU, but with all the schools represented in my class, there's no way that can be true. LSU attendees have higher numbers because many underclassmen of traditional college age usually transfer straight in from Baton Rouge. My first undergrad is from WAY out of state and we have people from Texas and Mississippi - probably more states than that, these are just 2 I know of.
As far as letters go, out of the past several years, the earliest I've seen them go out is end of April. MUCH patience is needed when dealing with LSUHSC... I can't stress that enough. Staff are being worn thin with cuts that were made. If they say May or June, they're trying to be conservative so you're not disappointed when you don't get it as early as you hoped - trust me - they do that a alot and you'll see even more of it when you get here!
i met the assistant dean of nursing, (moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals in your program per tos) and she said 95 acceptance letters will be sent out within 10 days. the candidates have been chosen, the letters are to be signed on friday and hopefully mailed out next week. this is not the biggest incoming class. and yes, budget cuts have taken a significant toll on the staff and faculty, which translates to less teachers, less students.. i think you get my point. this should cease any rumors or speculation as i heard this all from her mouth.
Hobobird, thanks!!!!!!! I'm still in North Louisiana trying to finish up my Bio degree, and I will not know ANYONE if I get into the class for Fall. All I can really rely on is this forum for any kind of information (besides what LSU may give, which usually is confusing anyways). Thanks again!
