Hi everybody,
Im new to this site and could really use some advice. Im starting LSU traditional BSN program. Was wondering if anyone has any advice about what to expect and what I should do to prepare. Also if anyone is actually a student at LSU that would help or if they are starting in the Fall as well.
Unless u want go to graduate school and conduct research and a dissertation/thesis or teach in a private school, yeah, a bio degree will not get you a job! Most jobs won't hire w/o at least a master's. Now, if you have the gpa and test scores for professional school, most applicants to those programss possesses a bio degree.I will have my BS in Biological Sciences/Pre Dent May 21! And it's pure hell this last quarter. I'm taking Ecology, Cancer Biology, Neurobiology, Professional Speaking, and under grad seminar--i present a 20 minute presentation on "The Use of Tetherin to Inhibit HIV-1 Cells". We're on the quarter system, which is basically 3 mini semesters and semester hrs are rewarded. Max hrs u can take in a quarter are 12--im in hell!! Lol. Last quarter consisted of Physics 210/262, Environmental Animal Physiology, Medical Anthropology, and Sports Med. Out of all these classes, sports med and neurobiolog will be of any good use for nursing bc we will not go into such delicate and molecular detail like in my other classes bc my program is designed for entry to med/dental/optometry programs. So yes, I feel as if what I'm doing is a huge waste of time. It may or may not look good when I begin applying to grad school after I've worked as a nurse. We'll see!
I'm glad I'm not the only one hating this waiting game. Even waiting another 10 days seems unbearable! I also have my degree already but its pretty much useless as well so I'm REALLY hoping I get in! It's also making the whole finding a job thing difficult. As soon as I hear a yes or no, I will let yall know, and I hope yall do the same!! GOOD LUCK to everyone, hopefully the majority of us on here will be happy in a week or so!
All of u students who have already been accepted in times past, and for those who got rejection letters in times past, do acceptance and rejection letters come in big packets or standard envelopes? I've heard charity sends out both in big packets. Itd be kewl to have some insight on what we may be opening this week hahahaha. I'm freaking out! Good luck everybody!
