Thinking about getting my RN degree at 66, has anyone else done this?

How long have you been a Lpn? I would be worried about taking a pay cut, unless of course your Lpn experience counted for RN.

What are your reasons? How long have you been out of school? If it is something you have always wanted to do and nothing else matters, you will do it. Financially, it is not cheap, unless you have tuition reimbursement available. Have you looked at the cost in money and time? Have you thought about what else you could do with that time and money? How long will you continue to work and is the cost benefit there? That may not matter if becoming an RN is something you have always wanted but have not been able to work on yet.
Adjusting to school again if you are 66 and have been out a long time can be a challenge. So much is done online, even if the class is on campus. Good computer and software skills will be essential for success. Do you have any pre reqs completed? Lots of questions :) Good luck with your decision!

My first thought is why?
If it's a degree that you always wanted and can afford to do, well yes.
Are you planning on working after you complete it at roughly 69? Do you have an employer lined up?
Me, at that age, I'd do a "fun" degree. Like a Masters in English Lit. or Slavonic Studies.
But then I know my knees and back aren't up to floor nursing at that age, management jobs are few and far between, desk/office jobs even harder to find.
So only you know what you can do.

Our oldest student was 68.
Is the OP thinking BScN or ADN? When I see degree, I assume it's the four years at university. How many transfer credits are already held?
