LPN in Tampa Fla area

Published

We are considering relocating and like the Tampa area. Do hospitals there hire LPN's...does anyone living there know. Also what are the prospects of schools for LPN-RN bridge programs. I am back in school finishing my prereqs and want to try to go for my associate degree....any feed back from Florida nurses??

Well, I know hospitals in Orlando hire LPN's, but just a warning about the schools here: the wait lists are long for all ADN programs in Florida, so start your pre-reqs and get your ducks in a row ASAP when moving here! The wait can be 2-3 yrs after applying. You might want to look into some online LPN-RN bridge programs. Best of luck!

Hi! Why not check out the Florida State Forum at: https://allnurses.com/forums/f141/ ? Maybe you can find something there.....

Thanks for the heads up!! I have been looking into schools here and may just stay and finish school before moving (I live in the Atlanta area now). The ADN schools are hard to get into here as well, but I'm hoping not quite as bad. Do you have any idea of hospital pay for LPN's in the Tampa area? I make around $16 now and $4 shift diff on weekends.

I think it's comparable, but you can dicker for more depending on how much experience you have and how desperate the facility is. ;)

Our hospital is rarely hiring LPNs, but many of the smaller hospitals do. So I'm sure the opportunities are there. LPN to RN programs are relatively easy to get into.

Good luck!

Many hospitals hire LPNs. University Community, St. Joseph's, Memorial, Kindred, and Town and Country are hospitals in Tampa and all hire LPNs. Bridge programs are offered at Hillsborough Community College and St. Petersburg College. You need to have prereqs done to apply. HCC has one bridge program per year, but SPC has one each quarter and allows appliciations at any time.

I work at TGH (as an LPN) but LPN positions are rare. Another poster was correct in giving you some other local hospitals that are hiring. St. Joes is a good one.

Good luck.
