LPN Student

Hi, I'm going on my seventh week in the LPN program at Lincoln Tech. It's very hard already in the first term. So I could only imagine what second mod is like. Can someone give me any tips or advice? I'm excited also nervous. Thanks in advance.

Nursing school IS hard. Its a lot of info and takes a long time to adjust to the different question style. It doesnt hurt to to do practice nclex-style questions from a comprehensive book like saunders even in the beginning. You may not fully understand the diseases mentioned in the questions but it really will help.

I am a graduate of Lincoln Tech LPN program. The program does get hard as you advance but try to form study groups or speak with the teachers to get a better understanding. Let me know if I can assist you in any way. Have you taken A&P yet?

I have 3 more classes left in my LPN program so I can offer some advice. It definitely gets harder as you move along. What I would say is to become one with your ATI books. Also go on the ATI website and take at least 1 adaptive quiz everyday. You can pick what topics you want. You can set it to 5,10 or however many questions you wanna take.

I noticed that I can study for hours on end but if I don't wrap it up with NCLEX style questions to really solidify that I know what I just read, then the information doesn't stick. Get in the habit of testing yourself and thinking like a nurse. The NCLEX is really like an acquired skill lol.

Teachers told us to think like nurses and use ABC to help answer questions: airway, breathing, circulation. Some of the questions on the test were tricky and hard to narrow down the correct answer. I start in the nursing program again in January which makes me nervous. I got behind and dropped out in Aug. This time, I am keeping my head down and hanging on every detail in the book. The teacher reads her blackboard notes to us which are the same as the information in the book so that does not even help us. Hang in there. You can do this.

When did you graduate? I'm currently in A&P 2. I'm in the second mod now. First mod went by fast.

Congratulations for making it to the next level. That's a huge accomplishment! What classes are you currently taking and are you doing clinicals? I would suggest to study in two ways: study for the lecture and study for the clinical portion. Many posts about being "book smart" and not being able to apply the knowledge in clinicals which is just as important than written exams.
